As grandmothers, we are concerned with the quality of fresh, local food available for our children and grandchildren now and in years to come. Children often don't recognize all but the most basic vegetables and most have no idea how any of it is grown. If you have space, we encourage you to grow food for yourself and purchase locally what you can't.

I love the woven edging, but sewing neatly was a challenge with a machine, so embroidery it is. The texture of the edging will be repeated, slung under bag. The straps give the tote a secure, sturdy carry.

Thanks, Herta. In Berlin, 1949, Herta Heuwer got ketchup, Worcestershire, and curry spice from British soldiers. She combined the 3 and other spices, working out her recipe. Herta was a chef with a food kiosk.
The story gets a little vague after that, except that she poured her curried ketchup over fried pork sausage, and the rest is delicious history, a favorite of millions of Deutschers, especially served with a good Pilsner.
And yes, we make curried ketchup.

Painful and apparently City managers don't care. Perhaps a few lawsuits would help. Or City managers who are no longer employed.

This little one is Cascade. Organic, and hydroponically grown.

I use a variety of pest control products for my herbs. I just have to be careful when I have ladybugs present. Diatomaceous earth will damage their exoskeltons, and insecticidial soap will kill them.

San Marzano tomatoes, garlic, onion, cubed fresh bread, grated cheese, and torn basil leaves. Smells amazing. We'll have fresh basil at the market this weekend. Ask for the recipe when you're at the market.

You can add Thai Basil to a lot of recipes. It makes a delicious addition, including a delicious pesto made with cashews. They will be in the shop in a few weeks. Just keep checking in.

Our Story

Concerns about the distance our food travels; modifications made to make food resistant to issues with travel; shelf life in the grocery; increasing issues with food allergies and sensitivities. It goes on and on. This is not news, we are hearing more and more about it every day. We now have an entire generation facing food and health issues. The majority of the population live in larger urban centers with less and less space to grow anything for ourselves.

We decided it was time to help take back some of that control by offering healthy produce and locally sourced ingredients for our jams and jellies. The things we grew up considering to be the norm.
