Just a few kitties who have come into care (and we mean only a few) who will be looking for forever homes. Sadly we have many kitties being returned in less than one month. And that's on top of all our new intakes too so sadly we have closed intakes on all cats/kittens for at least a month as most of these cuties are in temp fosters only until they can be moved to one who can foster until adopted. If you have been thinking about fostering or adopting, now is the time!

Rescue Story:
I was born in a trailer park with my sister. Unfortunately there were so many kitties who needed help by our owner, and Zoe's was full but they were able to take my sister and I to help us find forever homes. They helped the others get fixed too. Now my sister and I are ready for adoption!

Unfortunately our helping hands program and SNR/TNR program is on hold. Our donations are extremely low and vet bills are high. At this time we can only offer rescue rates (discount) at a partner vet. You will have to pay off the vet bill in full at the time of your visit. Tails of Help and Albertans helping animals society may be able to help. Other rescues do have SNR/TNR programs too and can be contacted to find out pricing. A lot of vet clinics offer payment plan options to!
We are in desperate need of no pet fosters for cats! We have so many in temp fosters who need a foster placement. And quite a few cats being returned who need a no pet home. Fostering is a great way to find your purrfect kitty or just to help kitties in need. Yes it's hard when they are adopted, but boy, is it rewarding. Instead of rescuing one cat, you can rescue way more! It really is worth all the tears, we promise. Please share and spread the word.

I must be adopted to a home with another young cat or kitten buddy as I love to play with them and cuddle.
I can be very demanding of attention and if your petting another kitty I will come for some love to. Hopefully your kitty is ok with that, or perhaps you have another human or more in the house that want a buddy to.
I am still learning to not be so bitey, teething is no fun. Dental toys, silvervine sticks and redirection will help with that. Due to this, older kids or young cat savvy kids would be best.
Be sure to never, ever play with your hands! Wand toys only to help ensure I don't see hands as something that's ok to bite.
How’s my Health?
I am fully vetted. I must be fed at least, one meal of wet food a day to help give me extra hydration which is important for kitties.

We missed last weeks due to puppy spamming (the best kind of spamming we think), but here's the amazing animals that have been adopted (or foster won!).

I'm getting way more comfortable in my foster home and am excitedly greet my foster mama when she gets home and will cuddle up in her lap. About my Behaviour:
I am crate trained and am working on my house training. I am cautious of new things and new people, especially men, but with patience and some yummy treats I will warm up and be willing to be pals. I'm a typical teen puppy who needs some work on my manners but I'm a fast learner. To ensure we get off on the right paw, my adopters will be required to sign up for a force-free training class. Beautiful Merle is 6 years old and is looking for a no pet/kid foster home. This sweet girl has been having a hard time to settling into her temp foster home. She's in a sanctuary room as neither her or the resident cat would like each other. Merle prefers to be the only kid, fur or not. Her foster mom is amazing but, Merle would really love having the entire house to herself. She is on some medication to help reduce her anxiety which has helped but having more space would will really make her happy. Please share or if interested please fill out a foster application.

Often people think of rehoming because they believe that it would be a less stressful on the animal. But unfortunately it's actually far more stressful to rehome your pet, especially in terms of a rescue as it's multiple moves and new strangers/pets. Many are heartbroken and take quite awhile to trust new people. We understand that sometimes it's not possible to keep your pet, but if you can try, please do! For cat behavioral tips we highly recommend checking out Jackson galaxy and Pam johnson bennet. For dogs/pups check out alberta force free alliance for trainers near you. You can also email us for behavioral advice.
We get so many emails asking for help with vetting but unfortunately we are still predominantly only able to offer rescue rates only as we can't afford to subsidize. We can not stress the importance of getting pet insurance. One trip to emergency can quickly deplete your savings. If your are low income or live pay cheque to pay cheque, it is a must to have pet insurance. We would love to know if you have pet insurance and what your most expensive vet bill was.
Did you know a litter of puppies can cost up to $5000 to provide basic vetting to so that we can find them adopters ?

Elowen and Finnian just love to help out with the cleaning at bone and biscuit. They ride brooms and mops, hate vacuums though sorry, you are on your own there. Perfect little house helpers, and if anything they make cleaning a bit more interesting.

Meet Fee (brown tabby with darker markings, Fi (brown tabby with more brown markings), and Fo (house panther). Three 16 week old kittens who will be available for adoption very soon. These three are the most loving kittens you will ever meet!
We still have a ton of great items for reasonable donation for our garage sale! And are really hoping the rain stays away. We are at 10112 52 street until 5 pm today and 10am -3pm tomorrow! We have some windsor pups on site and will have a few gamesnight pups coming sometime this afternoon.
Our sweet boy Lighting has been placed on hold. Sadly he injured himself while being a typical playful kitten. Thankfully his foster mom noticed quickly that he was limping. We had hoped it was a strain which is common, but, when he didnt get better the next day, he was taken to the vet where xrays revealed a minor hip fracture. Thankfully it only will require 4 weeks of kennel rest to completely heal due to his age and he will be given pain medications to be kept comfortable. He is still is very sweet, affectionate self and doing really well.
Everyone knows how important cat trees and scratching posts but did you know there is more to it? Size matters! For large cats like Oops, a larger cat tree with a larger base is important as you can see a cat can easily tip it over during zoomy mode. Some cat trees do let you bolt them into the wall for safety. But for those with large cats generally the way to go is through locat cat tree makers who can make larger sized cat trees that can give plenty of space to sleep and be sturdy during zoomy time.
Georgia celebrated her one year birthday with us just recently and she loves her birthday gift! She has been in care for 10 months and would love for you all to know more about her. See she is a shadow kitty who loves to play. She will keep you warm and toasty on toilet. She seems to prefer male cats and is currently fostered with Morpheus and they are doing great together! She would love to be adopted with him if possible. But if you had another young male cat friendly cat or a bunny friend she would be fine without him as they aren't bonded.
Juniper aka Betty needs your help! She has been living alone at A KENNEL for 6 MONTHS!!! This is not ideal for a loving dog like her that craves affection and connection . Rafiki is doing so much better and as you can see is quite the little handful. He loves to try and get the resident cat to play with him. Needless to say he will need a young playful cat buddy. He's not up for adoption quite yet as it will still take a few more weeks for him to fully heal. But now you can see why he's named Rafiki. ;)
We are looking for a new foster for Vintage and her two babies. The kittens are 5 weeks old and won't be ready for adoption for quite awhile. Momma is very stressed by the resident dog and vice versa. It's been upsetting her tummy too and we'd love to find a new foster for her and her two kittens. She is very sweet and seems fine with cat friendly cats, but is a hard NO to dogs. Shes only a year old (and currently in heat often so be mindful of her not escaping. She and the kittens should stay in sanctuary room until shes fixed and kittens are 8 weeks old). If interested please fill out a foster application.
When your suffering from covid, but have a snuggle buddy and very playful foster you get a bit creative. Oops is a fantastic fetcher! This handsome boy is looking for a foster or foster to adopt home. He is FIV positive so would be best as an only cat or with another fiv positive cat friendly cat. He is extremely affectionate and loves his person.
Prana needs you !! She only has a few weeks left in foster home and then will have to live at the kennel , which is okay temporarily but not long term and not great for. Dog like Prana who so loves her people . She has come so far with her reactivity to dogs we even think with slow introduction and management she could live with another . She loves kids , she is smart and has done a lot of training with her fabulous foster who is sadly moving. She has been in care for a year , we just don’t know why she hasn’t found her family ? JD here. I keep checking my emails but I haven’t received a single application for adoption. Not one. I can’t figure out why no one wants me. I’m a super cuddly boi and I love my hoomans. I like to be wherever they are, although I can get a little grumpy if I think they’re not paying enough attention to me. I’ll admit when I came into Zoe’s care I had some aggression issues but my foster hoomans have helped me work through them. As long as I get enough play and attention, I’m a good boi. If I don’t, I might nibble your toes or sneak attack you from one of my hiding places. I like my play time - but just 5-10 minutes twice a day is enough to wear me out. I’m 6 years old after all and not a kitten anymore. I love to be picked up and held and I love to talk to my hoomans. They bought me this weird carrier thing and I don’t hate it because it means I get to be with them as they walk around. I like to be the center of attention. Lighting looks like an alien and has quite a bit of things going on with him but he's in good spirits. We unfortunately couldn't test for FIP as his body is too tiny for the blood needed to do the test. He still plays some and eats well. He's quite the little fighter! Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Donations are greatly welcomed for this little guy.
We recently took in a litter of 7 kittens who sadly are all quite unwell. They all have URI, fur loss and wormy bellies. But the littlest one of the bunch Lightning worries us the most given how tiny he is compared to his siblings. He still tries to play though and has quite the personality. Please keep this little guy and his siblings in your thoughts and prayers, donations would be greatly appreciated.
Vintage is letting EVERYONE know she is available. Except she's not, because her kittens are only jus 3 weeks old. But it hasn't stopped her hormones from raging. Unfortunately yes a female cat can go into heat after giving birth to kittens only weeks ago (it started when her kittens where two weeks old, yowling and presenting for hours). This is why you must be very deligent to not let her outside! Even though she is still nursing she will try to get outside every chance she gets. And she will go in and out of heat multiple times before the kittens are old enough to be weaned so keep her in a sanctuary room with her kittens until she can be booked to be spayed.
Founded in Edmonton, Alberta in 2012 - Zoe’s Animal Rescue Society has quickly become a respected non profit that works across provincial and national borders to do as much good as possible. We have adopted out close to 3,000 animals. We take in stray and surrendered animals and can provide courtesy posts for helping rehome pets. We also offer supportive programs such as SNR (Spay Neuter Return), Helping Hand low cost veterinary care and Community Pet Food Sharing to provide support to low-income families and marginalized communities. Our goal is to match each of our foster animals with the home that is perfect for them. Our in-depth adoption process was developed with that in mind and has resulted in a less than 4% return rate. Our fosters are more just animals to us. They are a cherished life, each with a story and a desire to love and be loved.
