My mama was found out in the cold with 9 of us babies. We were lucky to be rescued and raised in a warm, safe home. Now we are almost old enough to find those wonderful things they call furever homes!

What’s up? I’m Pumpernickel! I’m the squishiest, snuggliest little guy with a big personality. I take playtime very seriously and naps even more so. I get wiggly when I’m excited, which is basically all the time. I love people—cuddyling and kissing them is the best. I was rescued with my 10 puppies when they were only about a week old. I did a really great job raising them and now I'm ready to start my new life!

Date of Birth: Approx 1 year old

Energy Level: Low- I've been pretty low key in my foster home so far

Size (adult): Medium (approx 50lbs)

I'm looking for a quiet, patient adopter who will takes things slow and help build my confidence. Living in a house is new to me but I'm starting to get the hang of things. I am house trained. I don't love my crate yet but I don't get into trouble around the house. I do get anxious when my people leave so I would do best in a home where I'm not left alone for long hours. I currently live with another calm dog who helps with my confidence but I'm not a big fan of dogs who come on too strong. I am a sensitive soul and can be nervous in new situations or when meeting new people. I can be quite vocal when visitors come to the house. My siblings and I were at another animal rescue but needed a new foster which they didnt have, so Zoe's agreed to take us on as they had some open fosters for us. We are now ready for a forever home!

Energy Level: High

Size (adult): Medium

Good with Dogs? Very specific dog(s) only
So far, I am not a fan of dogs. They scare me. I might be ok with a dog who completely ignores me.

I am one very sweet, very cuddly kitten. I LOVE to be petted and cuddle with you. I am purely a Velcro kitten. Don't get me wrong; I love to play, and I will play for hours at a time. But once tired, I am very happy to be cuddling with you. In fact, don't crouch down when you see me, as I will come and sleep on your lap. You will never get to leave! I am a very social boy whom you will fall madly in love with the moment our eyes meet. If you are looking for an attention-seeking Velcro kitty, I am the purrfect boy for you!

Oh, and I do request another young, very cat-friendly, playful cat buddy. I love to pounce on my sibling, and I will for certain be one of those kitties who like to pester a senior kitty to play with me. As long as I have one young kitty buddy, I should be fine, though.

So far, I am not a fan of dogs. You could bring your dogs to the store to meet, though, and see if maybe we would get along. Dogs who are super chill and very cat-friendly I might be ok with. Not sure yet, though.

How’s my Health?

I am vetted. I must be fed at least one meal of wet food a day for hydration. Wet food is important as it's best for kitties, so please make sure it's in my diet. Wet food is higher in protein and can be lower in carbs. It also gives added moisture, which is important, as dry-food-only-fed cats tend to be dehydrated, which can lead to UTIs.

I do have a tendency to want to eat your food, and you should probably feed me the same time you are eating so I will leave your food alone. At least 3-4 meals a day is best for a food monger like me.

Call me a mojo kitty. I love to explore, and I am very confident in myself. I love to play and will play nonstop for hours. I am happy doing my own thing, but I prefer for it to be in clear view of where you are. I am not a lap kitten; maybe when I am older, I might be one, but for now, I am too busy playing. The good thing is that it means I am not at all attention-seeking. If you are looking for an independent kitten who will entertain you with my antics, I am the kitten for you!

I can be quite mischievous, so I request a home with people with a sense of humour and not a huge attachment to breakables that you put in my way during my exploration. K. Thanks!

I seem quite interested in dogs and quite brave. I am uncertain at first, but I should be just fine with cat-friendly dogs with no prey drive.

I am very much a "no touchy" type of kitty; I will let you know when and where to pet. Young kids won't understand that I am a mojo cat who only allows petting on my terms, so older kids are best, if any.

Rescue Story:
I was living outside on a chain and was serverly malnourished. Fortunately Zoe's was able to rescue me and now I've got a warm bed and lots of yummy food to eat.

Colomo

It's always amazing to see a shy kitty walk onto your lap for the first time. Colomo is a stunning floofer who though shy, she is soooo sweet! She is currently being fostered with Zacapa and would love to be adopted with her if possible. Older kids are best if any, unknown with dogs but maybe if super calm and leaves her alone. She is one amazing kitten!

Turn up the volume to hear this little sweetheart. Anemone is the purrfect little kitten. She purrs nonstop, even during play time. She is the happiest girl and we can't believe we still have her!! She is the last of her litter still looking for her forever home.

Brinkley and Poconos

Poconos is one very affectionate sweet boy who loves to cuddle and Brinkley enjoys being nearby watching. These two handsome brothers would make a great pair, but Brinkley would be happiest if it's just them as he isn't the biggest fan of other cats besides his brother. The adoption fee for both is only $70 all this month! We would love for them to find their forever home as they are in a temp foster and would need to be moved. The brothers would love if it could be instead a move to a forever home! Please share so we can find someone who could make that happen!

Milo

We will not tell lies. Milo is such a hot mess. Not only does he have a terrible overbite and teeth that are uneven, his spine and head is a bit misshapen. Because of his extreme overbite, he is also unable to eat normally and needs specially prepared meals. However, we mean, how could you not fall for this adorable cat? He just makes you smile when you see him. He will need a very special home that can accommodate his unique demands, but we are aware that such a household exists. Kindly inform us if you would like to know more about this boy!

Rufus

Cat tv is a wonderful way to provide enrich for your cat, you can have it on your tv while your out using the you tube app, or on a tablet while your home. They even have cat games on you tube for cats. Rufus just loves watching cat tv!

Our Story

Founded in Edmonton, Alberta in 2012 - Zoe’s Animal Rescue Society has quickly become a respected non profit that works across provincial and national borders to do as much good as possible. We have adopted out close to 3,000 animals. We take in stray and surrendered animals and can provide courtesy posts for helping rehome pets. We also offer supportive programs such as SNR (Spay Neuter Return), Helping Hand low cost veterinary care and Community Pet Food Sharing to provide support to low-income families and marginalized communities. Our goal is to match each of our foster animals with the home that is perfect for them. Our in-depth adoption process was developed with that in mind and has resulted in a less than 4% return rate. Our fosters are more just animals to us. They are a cherished life, each with a story and a desire to love and be loved. Our fosters do not leave our hearts once their adoption is finalized and our adopters become part of our family. Our door (or inbox) is always open for questions, updates, or, of course, photos. Once a Zoe’s animal, always a Zoe’s animal.
