Rescue Story:
I was found as a tiny kitty with a bad URI, I wouldn't have survived out there, and no one came to claim me. Zoe's agreed to take me in and give me much-needed care.

My siblings and I were tiny orphaned kittens who were dropped off at Guardian Vet on May 29, Zoe's agreed to take us in as soon as they could. Unfortunately my siblings and I were in really bad shape, and I was the lone survivor. With a lot of great care, I have thrived and am ready for my forever home.

Astrid and Ovid are three-week-old neonate kittens. They, along with their two siblings, were found alone in a backyard when they were seven days old. They were brought to Zoe’s neonate foster for round-the-clock feeding and care.

Babies this age are very fragile, and their odds of survival are low. A few days ago, Astrid developed a high fever, lethargy, and refusal to eat. She was rushed to the vet for fluids and antibiotics. Two days later, Ovid developed congestion, nasal discharge, sneezing, and open-mouth breathing. He was also placed on antibiotics.

Currently, both babies are doing slightly better, and we’re hopeful they’ll survive. However, they’ll require additional veterinary visits and close monitoring over the next few weeks.

Zoom calls? I’m already on it. I love hopping onto my foster mum’s lap during meetings and peeking over her desk like the surprise guest everyone’s waiting for. I get all the oohs and awws while she tells me to purr a little more quietly (spoiler: I don’t). I’m basically a furry coworker who will boost morale every single day. I am equal parts high-energy zoomer and cuddle monster. I love chasing toy mice, ambushing unsuspecting socks, and wrestling with my siblings before collapsing into a well-earned nap. I am working on becoming a shoulder sitter, keeping close while purring away. Known for my comic timing, I have become a regular on work calls—snuggling into view and charming everyone on camera. I am also a self-appointed household helper: climbing into the dishwasher to “assist” with chores and attacking sheets mid-bed-making like it’s the best game ever invented. Play hard, sleep hard, and repeat: that’s my motto, with extra enthusiasm reserved for dinnertime and my new best friend, catnip.

About my Behaviour:

I must be adopted into a home with a young cat-friendly cat already or with a sibling. I really need a kitty playmate who can keep up with my high energy for the next 5-6 years, which a senior won't. I am good with other cats as long as I have that playmate and you do proper introductions.

I do prefer to play on my own, and I do not like bossy cats, as I AM the boss. Ok? Got it? Good. I am still young, and I do need another cat around, especially while you are away at work, as I will get lonely, and another cat will further teach me manners. But perhaps an older cat who is super cat friendly and who will let me play by myself but also play with me if I want them to would be my ideal cat buddy. One who doesn't want to hog your attention either. As the princess always gets what she wants, which is your attention, when I want it.

I sometimes jump up when I'm really excited and want to play but am learning not all humans like that. I'm a very smart lady and already know how to sit and am working on come and down. Our Story

Founded in Edmonton, Alberta in 2012 - Zoe’s Animal Rescue Society has quickly become a respected non profit that works across provincial and national borders to do as much good as possible. We have adopted out close to 3,000 animals. We take in stray and surrendered animals and can provide courtesy posts for helping rehome pets. We also offer supportive programs such as SNR (Spay Neuter Return), Helping Hand low cost veterinary care and Community Pet Food Sharing to provide support to low-income families and marginalized communities. Our goal is to match each of our foster animals with the home that is perfect for them. Our in-depth adoption process was developed with that in mind and has resulted in a less than 4% return rate. Our fosters are more just animals to us. They are a cherished life, each with a story and a desire to love and be loved. Our fosters do not leave our hearts once their adoption is finalized and our adopters become part of our family. Our door (or inbox) is always open for questions, updates, or, of course, photos. Once a Zoe’s animal, always a Zoe’s animal.
