🎄 Holiday Closure Notice 🎄

Our special sanctuary kitty Frank-N-Furter would like to share that the rescue will be closed to all non-urgent matters on December 24 & 25, remaining available for foster emergencies only.

This brief pause gives our incredible volunteers and foster families (and head rescue human!) a chance to rest, recharge, and spend time with loved ones. ❤️

We’ll be reopening the afternoon of December 26, ready to help once again.

Thank you for your understanding and for always supporting the work we do!

Stunning tortie Red is on the hunt for a forever home—and she’s bringing her petite sister Mokey along for the journey.

These sweet girls didn’t have the easiest start to life, spending their first weeks outdoors. Since then, they’ve been making up for lost time enjoying all the snacks, toys, and cozy comforts foster life has to offer. Their brothers were lucky enough to find their forever homes at our Pet Valu Windermere adoption event—now it’s their turn.

Mokey is shy at first, but once she knows she can trust you, she transforms into a total love bug. She’s gained so much confidence thanks to her sister Red, and because of that special bond, these girls must stay together. A calm home without young children or dogs would be best to help Mokey feel safe and secure. (Other kitties are ok though!) Red, on the other hand, is sweet, social, and ready to steal your heart in no time at all!

The girls are approximately 3-3.5 months old, spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and ready to go home for $250. Who will be the lucky family to welcome these beautiful sisters into their heart? 🥰

It’s time to spotlight another one of our incredible FMN sanctuary kitties — Xena 🥰

Xena is a beautiful Scottish Fold living with osteochondrodysplasia, a severe genetic condition that causes skeletal deformities, joint fusion (ankylosis), and progressive, incurable arthritis. This condition is responsible for the breed’s signature folded ears, but it also leads to painful, inflexible tails and stiff, malformed limbs. Xena will require lifelong pain management, and in severe cases, the disease can lead to early euthanasia due to poor quality of life — especially in cats like Xena with 2 copies of the gene.

Xena came from a backyard breeder who was breeding Scottish Fold to Scottish Fold — a practice that is unethical and almost guarantees kittens will suffer from this devastating condition. Her story is a heartbreaking reminder that aesthetics should never come at the cost of an animal’s well-being, and that “cute” physical traits can hide profound suffering beneath the surface.

While Xena’s condition is progressing at a rate that makes her unfit for adoption, she still has good quality of life and mobility today, and is so loved by her forever foster family. She will remain surrounded by comfort and love for as long as she tells us she’s free from pain — and we are honoured to be her safe place every step of the way 💛

Star & Nova came to us as tiny, 3-week-old orphans alongside their handsome brothers, who found their happily ever after together. Now it’s their turn!

Star is a little extra special. She’s vision-impaired and sees mostly shapes and shadows, but with a consistent, familiar environment and her “seeing-eye sister” Nova by her side, she absolutely thrives. Star runs, plays, climbs stairs, and navigates furniture with confidence. Consistency is key — keeping food and water dishes, toys, and the litter box in the same place, along with a predictable routine and quality time with her humans, helps her feel safe and secure. Nova is her anchor, her guide, and her comfort, and these girls must be adopted together.

Star & Nova are looking for a calm, loving home with no young children and no dogs. Other cat-friendly kitties are absolutely welcome. Their $250 adoption fee includes spays, vaccines, and microchips. Who will be the lucky family to open their hearts and home to these beautiful sisters this holiday season? ❤️

**update - we’ve had a rockstar volunteer come forward, we’re so incredibly grateful!** We need your help — and this time, it’s not for cats and it doesn’t involve money. Just some skillful hands and a generous heart!

We’re reaching out on behalf of two incredibly deserving rescue piggies who are struggling through this bitter cold. We’re hoping to connect with a carpenter or handy human who can help fortify their shelter — improving insulation and creating a more wind-proof door to keep them safe and warm.

Their caretaker has opened her heart and home to countless abandoned and discarded farm animals and has done everything she can, but this extreme weather has been especially hard. Piper came to her sanctuary home with some frostbite from her previous accommodations that were totally inadequate for our climate, and we don’t want her to go through that again.

The girls are located in the Alberta Beach area, and the right tools and experience could make a world of difference for them. Please share this far and wide, we just need one person who can help!

If this is something you might be able to assist with, please send us a message and we’ll happily share more details. Time, skill, and kindness are the most powerful gifts — and these girls truly deserve it. 💕

Time to spotlight another one of our incredible sanctuary babies!

Sweet Grandma Delphine is 19 years young — which in human terms puts her well into her early 90s — and she is one of those souls who quietly reminds us why sanctuary work matters so much.

She technically remains available for adoption, but at her age she is realistically a forever foster, and proudly one of our FMN sanctuary kitties. Delphine came to us through Edmonton Animal Care & Control after being surrendered by her family, and while she has no interest in sharing her space with other cats (and honestly, at 90-something in people years, who could blame her?), she has fully embraced life as the queen bee in an incredible foster home where she is adored and spoiled beyond measure. 👑

Grandma Delphine is currently living with stage 2-3 kidney disease, which means regular veterinary checkups to monitor her kidney values, provide fluids when needed, and eventually transition her to a specialized diet. These ongoing medical needs are manageable, but they do require consistent care and resources to ensure she remains comfortable, stable, and feeling her best in her golden years.

Caring for cats like Delphine is only possible because of the unwavering support of the FMN family. Through your donations, support of our fundraisers, and continued generosity, we’re able to say yes to senior cats who deserve dignity, comfort, and love when they need it most.

Grandma Delphine — and many like her — will never have to face their final chapters alone. ❤️

In October, Bee marked 2 full years in our care, and she’s still patiently waiting for the day she finds her forever home.

Bee is a sweet, cuddly, and playful 5-year-old tortie with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Her early life came with a lot of stress, which means she’s happiest as the one and only pet in the home. We know that’s a big ask — but for someone looking for a devoted companion to spoil, Bee would make an incredible queen of the castle.

To help keep her feeling her best during stressful moments, Bee does well staying on a urinary diet to support her bladder health. She’ll go home with a month’s supply of her favourite food to help ease the transition. Bee is in great health, spayed, microchipped, and fully up to date on her vaccines.

And the best part? Bee has no adoption fee — just a heart ready to love. All she needs now is her person. Someone please come meet this girl and help her start the next, best chapter of her life ❤️

This is an important reminder of just how critical proper identification is for our pets. A microchip in particular is one of the best investments you can make to help ensure a lost animal finds its way home (and they’re free with your City of Edmonton pet license!).

It also reinforces why we should never assume an animal has been abandoned. Following local bylaws and ensuring found cats are taken to Animal Care & Control—rather than rehomed—is always the right course of action. In rescue, we’ve witnessed situations even more unusual than this, with cats ending up very far from their families.

After 7 months missing, Callie is finally home—just in time for Christmas. Way to go ACC!🎄💚

Beautiful 1-year-old Talia came into foster care completely overwhelmed and fearful of the world around her. With time, patience, and the love of an incredible foster mom, she’s begun to blossom and learn that people can be kind.

While she’s still not a fan of being picked up, she truly shines when she’s cozy in her favorite snuggly bed, where she’ll happily accept gentle pets and relax into the moment.

Talia adores other cats and would be an ideal companion for a resident kitty. She’s happiest in a quiet, low-key environment, so a home without young children or dogs would be best for her.

Talia is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and is available by donation (no set adoption fee!). If you have a calm home and a big heart for a shy soul, Talia may be the perfect addition to your family 🥰

Our Jamkittens are 5 weeks old! (And too long for the camera 😂)

They’re using the litter-box perfectly, and starting to eat slurry and drink water from the fountain. Their play is becoming intentional, with lots of adorable butt wiggles and pounces as their prey drive kicks into gear!

Mama Annie has shown interest in exploring outside their room, and sleeps away from them on a taller cat tree a lot of the time. Her body is changing as she shifts from full lactation to recovery mode (and unfortunately her first heat cycle 🫠), one step closer to her spay and freedom!

At 550-650 grams, their next major milestone will be their first vet visit and vaccines very soon! 🥰

Tomorrow, our handsome house panther Styx heads home to his forever family, making it a perfect moment to reflect on an incredible year.

As we wrap up the year, we’re incredibly proud to share that 151 cats and kittens found loving homes through the Pet Valu In-Store Ambassador Program alone (not including adoptions from our in-person events). This surpasses last year’s record of 124 adoptions, and speaks volumes about what’s possible when compassionate community partners come together with a shared goal: saving lives.

We are so grateful to the incredible teams at Pet Valu Devon, Windermere, Strathcona, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, and Emerald Hills for opening their doors, supporting our cats, and helping connect them with their forever families. Your ongoing partnership truly makes a difference, and we’re excited to see what we can accomplish together in the year ahead.

Here’s to even more happy endings in 2026 💙🐾

About Us

Furget Me Not is a non-profit, volunteer driven rescue organization serving Edmonton and the surrounding area. We are dedicated to giving cats and kittens from area pounds, where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to overpopulation, a chance for the rest of their lives to be the best of their lives.

We place cats in loving and nurturing foster homes while they wait for their perfect furever family. Through our network of supporters and volunteers, we are able to maximize the use of every dollar donated by keeping our administrative costs low, and by providing medical care in home when possible. All our cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to adoption.

Our goal is to place our animals in loving and responsible homes, where they will thrive and be loving companions. We will continue to be a helpful resource after the adoption process is complete, and encourage our adopters to stay in touch and share their progress and success stories.

The Furget Me Not family and the kitties in our care look forward to meeting you soon!
