Warm weather is here! As temperatures rise, please remember not to leave animals unattended in cars.

Every year, countless pets die from heat exhaustion because they are left in parked vehicles. A few minutes can cause serious harm even if the windows are cracked open, or if you're parked in the shade.

🚨 Missing Cat Alert 🚨
In behalf of Floofy's family

Dear friends and neighbors,

I'm reaching out with a heavy heart to inform you that my beloved cat, Floofy, has been missing since yesterday at 5am and hasn't returned home. She's not chipped, so we're especially concerned for her safety.

We live on Cautley Crescent near the park/walk path. If any of you in that area have seen her or can keep an eye out, we would be immensely grateful. With the current heat wave, we're worried sick about her well-being. Floofy is an indoor/yard cat and isn't used to being outside for long periods.

Attached are two photos of Floofy. If anyone spots her or has any information, please contact us immediately:

Justin - 7802930746
Tammy - 7802939000

Your help and support mean the world to us during this difficult time. Thank you all.

How to help pets beat the heat in the absence of AC

How to help pets beat the heat in the absence of AC The combination of ongoing power outages and high heat in the Houston area may make some homes too hot for pets, putting them at risk for dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat stroke during heat waves. Many air-conditioned pet boarding facilities are full, but some shops and cafes might welcome pets for a few hours. Veterinarian experts suggest a few things owners can do at home, including :
setting up a battery-powered fan to blow across a bowl of cool water,
moistening skin with a damp cloth,
filling a shallow pool for them
minimizing exercise and giving them plenty of fresh water.

Keep summer safety in mind for your pets. Even on a mild to hot day, temperatures in a closed car can exceed 48 C in minutes, creating a dangerous condition for any animal. Cracking a window or parking in the shade does not help. Be caution and never leave a pet in the car.

For PET OWNERS that take their dogs to lakes and creeks, please read this warning from Morgan & Patrick Fleming.

This morning we thought, it’s so hot! Let’s go to the lake! We took our sweet Arya to the lake and had the best day playing ball and swimming around! About 30 minutes later on the drive home, we noticed her making weird noises and she threw up and pooped in the car. We called our vet on the drive and they suggested we take her in. By this point our girl couldn’t even stand. They told us she was in critical condition so we took her to the ER. By the time we got there, she was brain dead. Today was absolutely awful. We lost our fun, loving, and crazy girl to what we can only assume was a lake toxin such as blue green algae. Arya, no dog will ever replace you in our hearts. We already miss you more than you could know. I hope you’re running around like a wild girl with all the other boarder collies in doggo heaven ♥️

, Lyme disease is zoonotic, which means it is a disease that affects both animals and humans. It is one of many vector-borne diseases transmitted by arthropods, such as mosquitoes, ticks and fleas, which can transmit diseases through bites. The primary vector for Lyme disease transmission is the Blacklegged tick, also known as the Deer tick. These ticks feed on the blood of a host, such as your dog or you! During this stage (feeding stage) of their lifecycle, they can transmit the bacteria that causes Lyme disease to their host.

To best protect your dog from the Blacklegged tick and Lyme disease, speak with your veterinarian about an effective tick preventative that protects against 5 common tick species in Canada – including the Blacklegged tick – as well as fleas, heartworm, roundworm and hookworm.

5 Signs Your Dog Has Ticks

Ticks are troublesome parasites that can cause a variety of problems for your pet. But spotting these tiny bloodsuckers in a dog’s fur isn’t always easy.

It’s a good idea to use a year-round flea and tick preventative and check your dog for ticks on a regular basis. But even the most vigilant pet parents could be confronted with an unwelcome encounter with these pests.

Stay alert—if you notice any of these 5 signs, your dog might have ticks.

1. A Tick in Your Home
If you come across a tick on your bedding, carpets, or on the floor, you or your dog probably bought it in the house. Don’t brush off a single tick in your house as a one-off happening. Check your dog and do a closer examination.

2. Your Dog Has a Fever
Following a tick bite, a dog may exhibit signs of a mild or high-grade fever. This may only last 24 hours or continue for days or weeks. Signs of fever include weakness, loss of appetite, shivering and unusual panting.

While fevers can be a sign of many different sicknesses and symptoms, a dog with a fever should be looked over for ticks.

3. Unexplained Scabs
An embedded tick may cause a dog to excessively nip or lick at the bite site. If you notice this behavior or find scabs on your dog’s body, make sure to conduct a closer examination.

4. A Lot of Head Shaking
If you notice your dog constantly shaking his head, a tick may be burrowed in his ear canal. Ticks like to hide in warm, damp places and will crawl from the ground up to areas including a dog’s ears, groin or under his front legs.

If you see your pooch shaking his head more than normal, get out a flashlight and use it to look carefully in your dog’s ears for ticks.

5. You Feel a Small Bump
While it might seem like a no-brainer, feeling a bump on your dog while you’re petting him might be the firs telltale sign of a tick bite. If you do feel a bump, don’t ignore it. Part the dog’s fur to get a closer look.

Call us @ 7802492828 if you want to know how to protect your pets from Ticks
