First of all, I am going to skip the formality of stating my company overview, mision & vision, etc. Instead, I am going to give you my story and the birth of my humble little online baby boutique. In November 2009, Matcha Baby was born under the belt of a mother of two (that’s moi! - who was on maternity leave at the time) with the encouragement of families and close friends. We (the loyal “we”, me, myself and I) are a teeny weeny home-based business in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, selling a variety of baby items online. My name is Bene and I am the designer, sewer, crafter, merchandizer, salesperson, photographer and you name it, I am it for Matcha Baby. “Matcha” is a type of the Japanese powdered green tea that I craved a lot when I was pregnant with both my children. Therefore, it grew on me and stuck to me, and I thought why not use it as part of my company name. That part was easy! Then came the design of Matcha Baby logo, consulted my dear husband and siblings, and weeks later, the very cute colorful baby balancing a hot Matcha teacup on its nose (much like being a mother of two doing balancing act of taking care of the children among other things) was born! It was a very exciting and proud moment for myself. In the past, I have made baby items (blankets, changing pads, pillows, etc.), for families and friends and posted pictures of them on my personal facebook albums, entitled “handmade”. Many have posted generous and kind remarks on my items (thank you!); therefore, my confidence to enter this business venture stems from those who left their encouragement and compliments (never underestimate the power of words!). Matcha Baby Handmade Products: All handmade products are designed, carefully crafted and inspected (to the best of my ability) to ensure that you get quality products, best bank for you buck! I am sure you have read this everywhere and it might sound a bit “lame”, but here it goes.. “I will never sell something that I won’t be proud of to put on my children.” My inspiration first came from meeting my own needs, always wanted to have something special, one-of-a-kind made for my kids, even the simpliest thing like a receiving blanket or pillow case. Then talking to other mama’s and papa’s gives me great ideas and tickles my sense of creativity, understanding what their needs and wants. Thirdly, I keep myself updated with baby trends, be it watching TV (rare!), or research on the internet (often while kids are napping!), or browsing the magazines stand while grocery shopping, etc. Here is another often heard/read but defintely NOT overly exaggerated disclaimer.. “While I strive to produce good quality products, and securely attach all parts to my products, there are chances of wear and tear that little parts might come off, so PLEASE, check the product everytime prior to putting it on a child to make sure nothing is loose so that your child can dazzle in style and be safe at the same time! Do not leave your child unattended (anywhere!) while wearing small article like a hairclip or a soother clip to avoid choking or suffocating hazards. Custom made items are very popular at Matcha Baby, we asked that you let us know ahead of time, and we will give you an EDT (estimated delivery time) and price. All sales are final so please make your purchase carefully. All our products are made in a smoke-free and pet-free environment. Matcha Baby Handpicked Products: While I wish I could make everything under the sun, we all know that’s impossible.
