I often see guardians with pets that they struggle to place equipment on whether that be harnesses, collars, leashes, muzzles or even boots and coats. It’s so important to create positive associations with these items prior to just popping them on. Placing unknown items onto our pups can be scary for them, so it’s important to start off on the right paw.
Harnesses can be especially difficult if they are fitted improperly as they can be uncomfortable. It’s important to find a well fitting harness that works for your pup that doesn’t cause discomfort. It’s also important to watch for signs or fear, anxiety or stress when you are introducing new equipment/ gear to them.

Cold weather tips!
Some dogs can tolerate the cold better than others but what do you do if your dog doesn’t tolerate the cold? What if jackets and booties cause undue stress for your pup? Now what?
DS/CC to booties and jackets is possible, but can take time. In the mean time, it’s okay to go for shorter walks/outside breaks and consider increasing mental stimulation.

🐾Shredding recycling
🐾Scatter feeding
You can also teach fun new tricks, or work on any manners your dog may already know.
