Today is , where we celebrate all of our wonderful three legged friends! This is Sadie who came into care with her 2 day old puppies in November 2023. Following many vet appointments, puppy rearing, and physiotherapy sessions, it was determined that the best fix for Sadie’s leg troubles was an amputation. It wasn’t long after her amputation that she was back to her normal, active self. Today we celebrate her and all of our friends!

Some of you may remember Waffles. He's been on the down low for a while, trying to learn to meet strangers a little better and things like that. He's still the biggest cuddlebug who loves his people and animal friends, but he also sadly has a large number of health concerns that have affected his adoptability and has cost the rescue (and will continue to cost) significantly.

Waffles still has issues with itchy skin, but thankfully hasn't had any more outbreaks of sores. He currently receives monthly injections of cytopoint to help with the itch, which has helped significantly.

He also seems to be older than we originally thought. When chest xrays were done to check his heart health, some significant arthritis was discovered in his spine and sternum. He is currently having some issues with pain after a slip and is on some donated meds, hopefully this won't be necessary long-term.

Waffles recently saw a cardiologist at Boreal Veterinary Centre to investigate the cause of a heart murmur. He had an echocardiogram, the result showing he has an inherited defect known as subaortic stenosis (SAS). This diagnosis refers to a narrowing within the initial portion of the aorta. While he does have a grade 4 heart murmur, the specialist does not expect this to affect his lifespan. The only real concern is to make sure he gets antibiotics if he has any risk of infection and to maintain good dental health.

Which leads us to the upcoming expense. Waffles is in desperate need of a dental with extractions. He has managed to badly wear down his front teeth from his excessive gnawing on his jolly balls. He has been given a different toy to play with now, but sadly the damage has been done.

One of our volunteers has started up a new business in Hinton, and has decided to have a fundraiser just for Waffles!!

Hey there! I’m Kingston, a big-hearted 3-year-old German Shepherd Dog looking for my foster home (or a forever home if the right people find me). EARS saved me along with 16 others I used to live with from a bad and overcrowded situation back in January of 2024, and I’m the only one left who doesn’t have a family to call my own 😢
I’m not a fan of small dogs or cats, but I do love kids around the age 10 and up—those littler humans have way too much energy for me!
I absolutely adore long walks, car rides, and cooling off with a swim. Flirt poles and squeaky toys? Yes, please! I also enjoy a tasty pupsicle after a fun day of play.
A couch potato I am not - I’m very smart, super trainable and love a good challenge, especially when it comes to my food—I eat from a slow feeder to keep me engaged. If you’re ready to share your heart and home with a loyal companion, I’m the guy for you.

🌟 A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to support Edson Animal Rescue Society (EARS) at our first-ever Paint Night on Valentine’s Day! 🎨💖 It was an amazing evening filled with creativity and laughter, and it was so wonderful to see all the unique "Paint Your Partner" masterpieces! Each painting turned out absolutely awesome!

Thanks to your support, we were able to raise a total of $310, which will go a long way in helping the animals in our care. 🐾
