We had an amazing time last week soaking up the sun ☀️ with the #OrilliaFireDepartment and #89.1MaxFM at their fundraiser car wash! 🚒🎶 Our adorable service dog in training, Gertrude, even got pampered with a soothing hose bath to cool off! 🐾💦 Joining forces for a good cause was truly pawsome! 🐾⭐️...#servicedogs #servicedogtraining #labrador #k9countryinnservicedogs #dogssavelives #inthistogether #firefighter #happydog #woundedwarriorscanada #summervibes

K9CI Nagisa | 5.5 months - Public Access Trip
What do public access outings look like for puppies?
K9CI Nagisa is 5.5 months old and practices skills like loose leash walking, rear end awareness, sitting when stopped, down stays, food refusal, ignoring the public, and waiting at checkout.
Here’s a brief timelapse of our 20 minute outing to Canadian Tire last week.
Shout out to Bev K9CI New Brunswick who is training Steve
BELLA GSD is part of the program dog training with K-9 Country Inn 6 months old tomorrow!
K9CI Kaiser: First Public Access Trip
“K9CI Kaiser had his first puppy oriented Public Access session today. Kaiser is 12 weeks old and has been with me for the past 8 days.
We started off with some basic engagement exercises- working on started behaviours such as sit, down, stay, come into heel, and recall to front- in a new location. You can see in the first clip a woman approaches and while momentarily excited, with a bit of an encouraging food lure he keeps his attention where it needs to be. This was a great “real life” training opportunity for a young service dog in training.
Once I feel confident that he’s settled into his surroundings I asked for a bit more from him by asking him to work around service dogs Bell and Briar. Bell and Briar are two fully trained service dogs that I worked with prior to joining K-9 Country Inn. They make for great examples in teaching the puppy that working around other dogs is normal and unexciting.
Outings at this age are focused on creating positive experiences in new locations. This entire outing was a total of 15 minutes, and the whole time Kaiser was happy, engaged, confident, and eager to continue. By working on known started behaviours in a new place, we’ve shown him that training is fun no matter where we are, and that focus should always remain on the handler despite what’s going on around him.
Very well done Kaiser!”
