K9CI Jeph has a couple more handler training sessions planned before he starts the Home Integration Process!

This sweet guy will be going to spend a couple of days with his handler in his future home. This means establish a routine and boundaries, bond with his handler and get accustomed to his other four-legged siblings! ♥️

We are so excited for this team! 🎉

Over the next few weeks we will be highlighting our speakers in a series of social media posts.

Today we feature: Dave Hurst

Dave Hurst is a Clinical and Counselling Psychologist at Central Ontario Psychology and the founder of Downtown Psychology in Toronto. Presenting on "Trauma Informed Work Places", Dave’s approach is highly experiential and holistic; he invites and nurtures the active involvement of the whole person, including mind, emotions, and “felt sense” (the body’s response to our experiences), as all three can provide us with wisdom and direction.

A good public access trip that consisted of grocery shopping, a trip to the pet store and the dollar store!

K9CI C**t and K9CI Murphy did an awesome job at ignoring all the yummy distractions, interesting smells and the general public. They also worked in a heavy downpour. Well done boys! ♥️🐾

Cooperative play is an amazing training tool used for building relationships with clear communication and rules, but also for learning! We teach our newly matched teams how to play with their new working partner to enhance and build their relationship.

It’s not all work for these amazing super dogs, they get to play too! Whether it’s decompression and enjoying interaction or training with a motivator! ♥️

💡 A couple of things are happening here!

K9CI Garth is being positively reinforced following the lure, stepping onto an elevated surface, physical touch and verbal praise, and exposure to the vest.🐾

Every time we step into training sessions with these young eager minds, we want to solicit a positive association with training!

These puppies are working hard to reach their next stage of training. The end game? Becoming a PTSD Service Dog or an Operational Stress Intervention Dog (OSID) through our program OR be placed as an Autism Service Dog or Mobility Support Dog. ❤️‍🔥
