This sweet boy came in for his second puppy vaccine booster.

With vaccine, it is common for your pet to experience some symptoms for a couple of days after. This can include mile fever, a little lethargy, and pain at the vaccine site, May also have reduced appetite.

Now, in this sweet boys case, he had a little more of a reaction. His owner called us right away, and we got him all looked after and feeling better. If your pet has any of these symptoms after a vaccine, you should call your veterinarians office right away. These symptoms can include vomiting, diarrhea, facial swelling, hives, and difficulty breathing. It is very important to let your veterinarian know so that they can take the appropriate steps for the next vaccine.

Our office will be closed on Monday, September 2nd, so our staff can enjoy the Labor Day holiday. Our office will reopen on Tuesday, September 3rd, at our regular hours of 8am. Please make sure to order any food or prescription that you will need by Thursday so we can make sure to have it here for Friday.

A little information on the West nile virus for our equine friends.

Summer and fall are the peak time for arbovirus infection as these diseases (which include Eastern Equine Encephalitis [EEE], West Nile Virus [WNV], Western Equine Encephalitis [WEE] and Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis [VEE]) are transmitted by several different species of mosquitoes and biting insects.

With more states reporting cases of West Nile Virus (28 cases have been reported in August as of today), this is your reminder to keep your horses up to date on vaccinations with the guidance of your veterinarian to best protect your equine friends from infection.

Our office will be closed on Monday August 5th for the Saskatchewan Day holiday. Our office will resume regular office hours on Tuesday August 6th at 8am. Please make sure to get your medication refills(if needed) or food pick up in by Thursday August 1st to ensure we can have it fill and ready for pick up on Friday.

An employee at Vet to Pet currently has found this stray dog on her farm and, unfortunately, can no longer keep it(rescues and humane society are full). She is guessing to be a 7-8 month old Kelpie mix. Great dog looking for a new home that is not on a farm or acreage as she tends to wander off and chase things. She will need a home with a fence, and preferably someone who has time and dedication to train her. She is still a puppy with a lot of energy. That being said, she still likes to chew on things and play. If anyone has an interest in adopting her or coming to look at her, please contact the clinic at 306-540-9691 to get in contact with the employee who has this sweet girl!

This sweet girl came to us last year with some gingivitis and tartar. We thought she might need to have a dental in the next year. We saw her today for her Annual check up. Her owner has been feeding her the Hills T/D feline diet since her exam last year. Today, her teeth look amazing, and at this point, her owne can hold off on a dental. Either switching or even adding a few kibbles to each meal can make a huge difference.
