We here at Dig My Curl Akitas, DMC Akitas for shot, started breeding akitas in 2010 with our first litter born early 2011. Own and operated by Candace and Gary Schaap, we have lived with large, strong willed dogs all our lives and now have decided to share one of these precious b
reeds with the world. We breed our akitas for temperament first and appearance second. We aim to better the breed with our dogs and help make and keep a good standing name for the Akita dog breed. Our akitas are from the American line of akitas but with a twist. Although our dogs carry the beautiful coat markings recognized in the American line, our dogs hold a build that leans toward the more traditional style of the Japanese akita bloodline. Our dogs do not get as big or have a 'box like' appearance as the American Bloodline tends to do. A true little gem in the rough has been found within our dogs. Our females usually top out around 85 to 90 pounds and males have reached between 95 to 110 pounds when done growing. Our puppies are well socialized with children and other animals before heading to their new homes. Puppies also go to their new homes with first set of vaccines, veterinary check up, deworming and microchip! Puppies can be picked up from our home or we can deliver puppies to their new homes, at owner's expense.
