Our Canadian Grand Champion 🏆 TonKa received an unexpected surprise today!

TonKa was in the ring for 2 months from Aug to Sept and won the Canadian National Chow Chow Specialty and the Regional Chow Chow Specialty at 18 months old!

Special thanks to our breeder in Beijing Wei Yi Song our beautiful friend and fellow breeder in Poland Paulina Kolodziej @ Polanda Polonica Chow Chow puppies for all your support and of course our stellar handler Cindy Kowalchuk-Corrigal we would be lost without you!

Sorry to bust the "doodle myth" he honestly if you want an amazing dog just buy a poodle!

They charge outrageous prices for a cross ❌ it's a mutt regardless of what they proclaim.

Do your research, work with a reputable breeder who backs up their breed and understands generics.

Chows have new indoor kennels. Costco's rubber click flooring works very well and disinfects great!

Highly recommend this flooring. I'll use it in my whelping room as well. You can separate and soak to clean as well.

For those of you who were wondering what Raven's Ridge CKC Registered breeder - All Natural Dog food was up to all summer... we were on an adventure with our China boy!

TonKa - our handsome boy received mail this week!

Thank you Cindy Kowalchuk for taking our boy through to his championship with grace and poise in 4 short weeks and then going on to win the Canadian National and Regional Chow Specialty shows back to back in the 1st week of Oct. With only 10 weeks on the show circuit our boy surpassed my expectations!

Thank you to all the amazing judges both local and international that recognized our boy in the beautiful line up of stunning dogs, we were truly humbled to be a part of. What an honor for our Ravens Ridge team!

Wow! Special thanks to our wonderful Breeder in China!!! Next year will be another exciting year for our kennels!!! Stay tuned!!!

If you're fortunate enough to have been chosen to purchase a pure bred puppy from a reputable breeder... That's a privilege in itself.

Along with lifetime support and the fact that if you can no longer keep our dogs we "take them back" our dogs don't contribute to the overpopulation of the rescue groups or dog pounds because we are responsible for each and every one of our dogs, from birth to seniors.

Keep that in mind.

This article outlines the importance of approaching Chows from the front due to their limited vision.

Although chows are not a popular, well loved breed they have special traits that only chow lovers understand.

Not a breed for novice dog owners... Do your research before considering a puppy, reference your chosen breeders and ask to speak to previous clients to confirm Temperaments.

As with most strong breeds people often judge an entire breed and label them, similarly to Pitt bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans along with many other protection breeds etc. the list is endless.

Bottom line, if you're interested in any strong breed you MUST take the time to properly socialize and condition them to as many positive experiences as possible to help promote confidence and trust. Chows need strong, confident and patient owners... along with unlimited social interactions as young as possible.

To own a chow... is to love a chow. Definitely not a breed for everyone. They've earned my love and dedication... I adore this breed!

Chow Chow breed standard is one of the lengthiest and most detailed of standards but still leaves opportunity for the judge’s interpretation.
