Reactivity is the most common behavioral issue we see. Many people think of a dog barking on the end of the leash as reactivity but there are many other symptoms and numerous causes. The good news is that reactivity CAN be corrected in most cases and your dog CAN live it's best happy doggo life!

Touch is a great command with many uses. It's engaging and fun for the dog and it's very easy for a novice handler to shape. Here's how to teach it:

1. Hold a treat between your thumb and pointer finger with an open hand and present your hand to your dog a couple of inches away from their nose.

2. When your dog touches their nose to the treat in your hand, mark with a "yes" and pay them a treat from your OTHER hand. Repeat multiple times.

3. Now present an open hand without a treat and when they touch your hand mark with a "yes" and pay them a treat from your OTHER hand.

4. Once they successfully touch your hand 8/10 times we are now ready to name the command by presenting our hand and saying "touch" and rewarding your dog.

Once they know touch you can challenge your dog by placing your hand up high, down low, at your side, adding in distance, etc.
