One of our goals over the last year has been to reintroduce some colour back into the barn. Though it is still a work in progress and we have some colour genes to now work into separate breeding programs, it has been even more exciting to check the nest boxes this breeding season.

This is the largest and most colourful litter we’ve had in quite some time! Please contact if interested as a few of these cuties should be ready for new 🏠s in a couple of weeks.

I’ve kept 5 of her offspring from various litters and I’m now working on a second generation (another 5 currently in grow out cages, with more in the nestbox...so she has definitely completed her task here). It’s time for her to move along and help another breeder take their herd to the next level. She does NOT carry Tort or Tri.

Looking to make some more room in the barn for this next round of babies. This was a tough call but I decided to stick with another doe from the same litter instead of both. Fairly small in size, nice coat pattern and okay density so far (just transitioning from baby coat). I anticipate this doe will be eager and ready to breed as soon as she reaches maturity!

Ask about my bucks! I have far too many and would certainly consider finding a nice boy to send along with these does if interested in a trio.

Another fantastic show in the books! Our biggest accomplishment at the SORBA 2024 Spring ARBA Triple was CLR’s Butler taking Best of Breed out of 39 Mini Rex in Show C! He earned an ARBA leg in each of the 3 shows today. Super proud of this boy. He even made a lovely Standard Rex friend while waiting to be judged for Best in Show, they matched! LOL

We spent the morning setting up some new quarantine cages. We use this space, which is in a separate barn from the main rabbitry, for rabbits returning home from shows and/or new breeding stock. After 4 weeks, if the quarantined rabbits are free from signs of illness and preventative deworming is complete, they are safe to head over to the main barn.

CLR’s Inspire took Best of Breed in Show C out of 43 Mini Rex at the KWRBC’s triple spring show today. What an incredible testament to the many years of hard work put into this lovely breed. It was also great to see so many amazing friends and catch up after a long winter apart!

Super friendly and easily handled purebred Mini Rex male 👀 for his furever family. Born July 11th, this boy is able to leave anytime on or after September 5th. He is a Torted Chocolate/Orange Harlequin, which is a very unique and stunning colour but not something I can keep for show.

I love these galvanized water cups. We’ve used them the entire time that I’ve had rabbits. A pop bottle can be attached to provide a larger water supply. This is especially handy for moms with babies. Every 3 to 4 years, I replace any that have rusted, which is inevitable. Luckily, they are pretty cheap and easy to change out.

2023 will forever be known as the year we moved home to Fisherville. It will also now be known as the year I finally said goodbye to my beloved Holland Lops.

For years now I’ve contemplated a rabbitry filled with one solitary breed. Dreaming of the extra cage space and growth that this change would allow. But I also found myself feeling guilty for “giving up” on the progress I’ve made.

Deep down I always knew my Mini Rex would win out. They are my heart breed. The breed that peaked my interest the very first time I met one. The breed that I researched and spent hours thinking about until I finally found my first little Chocolate buck. The breed that I will forever have and hold dear to my heart.

I enjoyed the competitive nature and challenge of the Holland Lop. I cherish the many breeders and friends I’ve met through this adorable compact floppy eared rabbit and the amount of knowledge I’ve gained while working with them. I will never forget the last 17 years with Hollands. A lot of blood, sweat, tears and dollars were invested into them. Looking back, I can see the progress I have personally made in a breed that is loved by so many and it brings me comfort knowing that my line is still out there, dispersed amongst fellow breeders striving to do the same. Not to mention the many families that have one (or more) of my buns that are so spoiled and bring so much joy to their human companions.

Thank you for supporting my journey with the Holland Lop for so many years. It is time to say goodbye in hopes that having the space and the time to focus my energy on one breed will help me progress further and faster. At the end of the day, even though I’ll be sad to see them go and will miss getting my hands on these stunning little beefcakes in my barn, I feel a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. No longer will I have to divide my attention and my cages. I’ve finally made the decision and I’m so glad that I did.

I urge anyone with bunnies to get them vaccinated against this deadly virus. It looks like it may be here to stay in Canada as cases crop up again and again across the country in pet rabbits. I worry that it may already be established in our wild population.

Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) is a fatal calicivirus that affects only rabbits. It can be transmitted by direct contact with a diseased rabbit or from f***s, urine, or hair from a diseased or dead rabbit. We made a run to the feed mill for some rabbit pellets, amongst other things, this afternoon. During the summer months, a 25kg bag lasts about a week around here thanks to the influx of babies!
