It’s been a busy 24 hours. My last two sows of the season farrowed! It is always a bit of a relief when everyone is finished. Both litters are lovely, large piglets. PJ, who is an all white sow, farrowed four boys and one girl, while Courage had more of a mix. Of the 12, two were black and white while the remainder were either all gold or gold and black.

For a variety of reasons, we did not have hens in 2022. Both Yves and I missed the eggs, as well as the actual animal. Hens are lovely to have on the farm. They are an animal that like to be with you and the other animals they live with. And, of course, farm fresh eggs are pretty spectacular. And, so… hens are back. This is the very first egg of 2023!

Locals… Are your kiddos all done with their kiddie pools and sandboxes? We will take them for the pigs! Drop them off at the farm and get some piglet snuggles. We will even wash off the mud! 😜 We can also pick up.

First milestone achieved: being comfortable! Okay, Nellie was fine Day One, but it took Ned longer to look happy. Swipe to see him upon first arrival. They are both getting used to new sounds, esp. the sounds of pigs eating/fighting. We are working on basic commands many of which are there just ignored for fun things like running.
