We hope everyone who’s been evacuated has made it somewhere safe for the time being!

We will be going through our bookings to cancel and refund all bookings for the next few days,

We are going to play it by ear for now , cancel/ refund a few days at a time,

Since we will only being doing a few days at time , if you know you won’t be in town and want a refund during this time please send in a cancellation request and we will get your booking cancelled and refunded immediately!

All employees of bark n bubbles live in the areas that have been evacuated so please bare with us as we try and get through all the bookings during this crazy time!!

Prairie Creek, Abasand, Grayling Terrace and Beacon Hill Upgraded to Two-Hour Evacuation Notice: Be Prepared to Leave Within Two Hours if Instructed

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐰, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐟 𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝.

(Fort McMurray, AB, May 14, 2024) The fire behavior yesterday was not significant, but it has grown closer to Fort McMurray and we anticipate similar conditions and smoke today. The fire is spreading through ground and fine fuels in the former burn area of 2016. It is not a crown fire but is spreading on the ground in the tall, cured grass. The winds today will bring the fire closer to Fort McMurray.

The closest point of the fire is about 13.5 km from the Fort McMurray landfill. The wildfire is about 13 km from the intersection of highways 63 and 881.

The fire is expected to approach the Fort McMurray landfill and highway 63, getting closer to Prairie Creek, Abasand, Grayling Terrace and Beacon Hill.

Two-hour evacuation notice upgraded for Prairie Creek, Abasand, Grayling Terrace and Beacon Hill.

The communities of Prairie Creek, Beacon Hill, Abasand, and Grayling Terrace are now being put on on a two-hour evacuation notice. This means that these communities should be prepared to leave within two-hours if instructed to do so. This does not mean they need to evacuate in two hours, but they should be ready to leave with two-hours if the situation changes. This is not an evacuation order, but a notice. If the fire behavior changes significantly, we will update the community immediately.

An evacuation alert remains in place for Fort McMurray, Anzac, Saprae Creek, Gregoire Lake Estates, Fort McMurray First Nation. These communities are not on a two-hour evacuation notice.

Highway 63 Remains Open

Highway 63 south of Fort McMurray remains open and accessible. RCMP and Alberta Wildfire will be monitoring the status of the highway and proximity to the wildfire closely. If there are any changes to the status of the highway, the community will be updated.



Preparedness is Critical

Residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with their evacuation routes and muster points. If residents do not have transportation to self-evacuate, they should report to their designated muster points, where municipal transit will support evacuation assistance. Residents under an Evacuation Alert are encouraged to pre-register on the MyAlberta Emergency Registration System (MAERS). You can register online for potential emergencies or emergencies that may affect your household. You may register for yourself and any members of your household.

What you can do to prepare to evacuate within two hours’ notice:



Prepare a plan to retrieve children and pets.
Prepare a plan to secure your home and belongings.
Pack an emergency kit.
Ensure you have your key belongings, including important travel documents and medications.
Ensure your vehicles are parked on your property, not on the street, to keep roads clear for emergency vehicles.
Create a family communication plan to stay in touch and know everyone’s location.
Keep a list of emergency contacts and share it with family members.
Know your community’s evacuation routes and have multiple options visit rmwb.ca/alerts to find yours.
Maintain a defensible space around your home by clearing away flammable vegetation and debris.
Keep your gutters and roof clear of leaves and other flammable materials.
Store important documents and valuables in a fire-resistant safe or secure location.
Make sure your home insurance is up to date and covers wildfire damage.
Prepare to turn off utilities such as gas, electricity, and water if instructed to do so.

Please avoid the side walk for the plaza, there is a grassy area up near the main road beside the convenient store !

✨ We ask that you please be considerate of our neighbours as 1 is a preschool 👶🏼 Kids play on the side walk and draw with chaulk on their hands and knees 🛝
Our other neighbour is Jomas a food place, dog waste and ti**le is NOT Ideal to have right outside their doors ✨

We want to be respectful of our shared space and hope you all can help 🤩
