Yes, it’s a little early but we couldn’t resist the opportunity to share the good news!

Our North American Dog Agility Council (NADAC) registration (trial premium) is now available!

We recognize Fort McMurray isn’t exactly next door to any other community, and as such, we felt it necessary to get this out there as soon as possible, so that competitors travelling from across Canada and the United States can put it on their calendar.

We do anticipate this trial to fill up.

With lots of give aways, raffles, vendors and of course the fanciest ribbons all around (more on this to come) we can’t wait to welcome you to our community, and to the sport

Hi all, we’re searching for a Part Time kennels assistant! Is this you?

Applicants must:

✅ Be comfortable with all breeds of dogs (provided they are safe to handle).

✅ Be physically capable of handling all breeds of dogs including Great Danes, Mastiffs, Newfoundlands, Pitbulls, etc.

✅ Be comfortable managing clients both in person and over the phone.

✅ Be comfortable administering medication to canines and be diligent with specialized diets.

✅ Be able to manage bookings and client filing systems.

✅ Be able to perform general kennel maintenance and cleaning duties.

✅ Be able to assist with other kennel duties as required.

Qualifications:

📌 Previous experience working with animals and (canines) is an asset.

📌 High school education.

📌 Previous customer service experience.

📌 Proven ability to learn and follow instructions.

It’s official!

We’re happy to announce that Fort McMurrays first ever NADAC agility trial will be held at MacDonald Island Park!

This special day is dedicated to honoring our furry companions and advocating for their well-being. Dogs are wonderful companions full of energy, love, and personality. There’s a reason why dogs are referred to as a person’s best friend.

⏰ First Dog on the line: 8:30am
⏰ Lunch 11:30am (BBQ and Salad)

➡️ Weavers (if there’s times and interest)

📣 We will run Elite, Open, Novice, and Intro. You will have approximately 5 minutes to walk each course.

📣 We will run both Regular 1 and 2. Break for Lunch while we set TnG and then run this.

📣 If there’s time and will from participants after TnG. We will set and run Weavers.

📣 As this is an open house, we are encouraging participants to invite anyone they wish. The event welcomes spectators!

Hello all, we have some exciting news to share! Mark your calendars. Fort McMurray will be hosting its FIRST ever North American Dog Agility Council (NADAC) sanctioned agility trial, and this weekend marks the “one year out” date!

To our fellow NADAC family far and wide. We sincerely hope you make the consideration to attend this historical event. Being our inaugural trial, it will be well worth the trip for you and your pups!

- BEAUTIFUL ribbons/rosettes for Titles, NATCH and of course Top Dog.

All things said, we anticipate this to be a VERY well attended event so please be sure to submit your premium once it becomes available!

To host this trial means a tremendous amount and has been a culmination of nearly three decades of work, from agility instructors both past and present within our community. Special shout-out to 4 Paws Dog Training - Fort McMurray who has been a fixture in the agility community locally and beyond, for their commitment to our community and the sport we love. Additionally shoutout to Charlie's Choices - Pet Boutique & Supply Store for providing a space for students to learn foundations during the off season and 3 Dawgs Training for giving residents an opportunity to learn agility foundations this past winter. Sometimes it’s the little guys that need a helping hand. Spotted this tiny juvenile mouse, weak and unable to move about while doing yard work. A sliver of bread, sopped in goats milk and honey, this weak little mouse will be good to go!

Carla Antal Bio:

My name is Carla Antal, owner of Rave’n Agility Training. I have been active in dog sports for about 16 years ! Over the time I have owned 7 dogs all various breeds and have competed in many sports with all of my dogs! I currently have 5 dogs and 4 that are competing still . I have also trained and ran many other dogs for friends and clients! My first love is agility. I started out in NADAC, and over the years have placed multiple NATCH’s on various dogs. I have also been to championships with 4 of those dogs and have placed in the top of our divisions!

Recently I have started to venture in to UKI Agility, and so far am also loving that. I also love to play disc and do dock diving! Both at which we have also excelled at, being to nationals in both sports and making it on the podium!

We have dabbled in herding, obedience, flyball, lure and wall climb. The more things I can do with my puppies, the happier I am. I love to teach because I enjoy seeing everyone have as much fun with their dogs as I do, and I love seeing how happy the dogs are to be playing with their humans! 🐾

Karen Allen Bio:

My name is Karen Allen, I am a canine bodyworker and owner of Evolution Canine Therapy. I have had dogs, cats, birds, horses, and rabbits my whole life. I entered the dog sport world about 12 years ago with my Boxer, Gunner.

I currently have 5 dogs - 3 Australian Shepherds, a Minature American Shepherd, and a Border Collie x Australian Shepherd. My first love is agility, but we have trained and/or competed in 3 different agility venues(NADAC, CKC and ASCA), dock diving, disc, herding, rally obedience, obedience, lure and a bit of flyball. I have attended NADAC Championships twice, the last time being in 2022 with 3 dogs. My boy Cooper and I placed 4th in our division, Hank and Rush placed midway in their divisions. Cooper and I were lucky enough to hit the podium in the team event along with Carla Antal and Dave Steerman!

Cooper and I have earned 11 different NATCHs and we are hoping to earn many more! I love to learn and I am stepping out of my comfort zone and learning AAC and UKI style agility. I have been very fortunate in my agility career to have trained with some of the best in the agility game! Further, I love to teach, share knowledge, and nothing makes me happier than seeing the "aha" moments in students and their dogs!
