Traveling to the USA with Fido?

As of August 1, 2024, the CDC has put out new requirements and guidelines for dogs traveling to the United States.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information on these changes please follow the link below to the CDC website. Here you will find the current information as well a useful tool called DogBot that will direct you with what you will need for your travel situation.
https://www.cdc.gov/.../dogs-entering-us-after-august-1.html

To make things a little easier, we've created a checklist of key requirements for cross-border travel to help you get started:
#1. Your dog must be 6 months old to travel the US.
#2. Your dog must have:
- An ISO (International Organization for Standardization) compliant microchip.
- A valid rabies vaccination. For the rabies vaccination to be considered valid by the CDC, it must be done after the ISO-compliant microchip has been implanted. If your dog is due for rabies vaccination, ensure they have an ISO-compliant microchip implanted BEFORE vaccinating. This may be confusing, but your veterinary team can help you figure this out.
- A visit to your veterinarian within 30 days before your cross-border travel. This appointment is needed for your veterinarian to fill out the Certification of Dog Arriving from DMRVV-free or Low-Risk Country into the United States Form
- The above form must also be verified by the official government veterinarian. For more information on this step please visit https://inspection.canada.ca/.../pets/united-states-america
- In addition to the form that your veterinarian fills out, there is an online form that YOU (the owner/traveller) are required to fill out called the “ CDC Dog import form receipt” (this form will be made available by the CDC on July 15, 2024 and MUST be submitted through the CDC website 3 to 10 prior to travel and will require you to upload a picture of your dog)

We understand that these new regulations can be confusing to navigate, and we ask for your patience as we too work out all the new requirements and changes.
