On June 17th, 2022, Brady and I welcomed our pup, Kahlua, home. Back then, Brady was working full time in Petawawa and would make the drive to Gatineau every weekend, while I was still a full time student at the university of Ottawa, and working part time (but really it was full time hours). As we were just beginning the process of potty training and crate training a puppy, I remembered that Rover offered drop in visits, which we might’ve needed on weekdays when I was working. I had created my Rover account back in 2019, but I was going back and forth from Toronto to Ottawa too often, and between my studies and work, I ended up deactivating my account. So, I reactivated my account and updated my profile, not really thinking much would come from it. On June 26th, 2022, we welcomed our first boarder (who is currently curled up in bed beside me). Rover picked up quite quickly, and before we knew it, we were hosting a few dogs at a time, back to back, and doing drop ins. Eventually the walks started coming in, as well as the housesitting. So, Brady went ahead and did the background check himself so he could get added to my profile. In September, Brady’s contract ended and we moved into our own place in October. Over time, we’ve met so many awesome people (and pets of course), discovered so many new parks and trails and fell in love with so many furry friends. It’s safe to say Kahlua has made many friends along the way too, and she never gets bored. Through the many ups and downs, we have learned so much and are constantly changing things up to improve our services and quality of care (which sometimes means one of us having to sleep on the couch to make room for all the dogs on the bed😅). Thank you to each and everyone of you that have trusted us to take care of your loved ones, and we can’t wait to see what 2023 brings🎉🐾
