Spring has nearly sprung, the weather still not what we want, however, we are hoping to see warmer days gradually take over. With that in mind, its Nail Trim time again. The signs are hung with care in the hopes that dogs would soon be there.…this Sunday for the nail trim fundraiser on Trafalgar between Georgetown and Acton!!!” Come on out to The Dog Wash just up the road on Highway 7. Part of the proceeds go towards LFHH improvements and upgrades.

Just a reminder, I know its cold and windy outside, but please be mindful and pickup after your dog. We have had several complaints about the amount of overlooked p**ps throughout the park. The off-leash parks were made possible by the hardwork of volunteers. Volunteers that have worked hard on your behalf so that your pets can have a clean safe place to exercise and socialize. It is not the responsibility of the volunteers or Town staff to clean up after your dog. It is yours. We have also reached out to Canine Control and asked them to start monitoring the park and interacting as required. Once the snow melts in the Spring, think of the mess that will need to be cleaned up.

Now that summer is here, we are seeing a lot more children coming to the off-leash parks. I would like to remind parents that they need to keep a close eye on their children. The off-leash parks are for dogs to come and play. It is not uncommon when dogs play for children to try and join in. This can lead to both dogs and children getting injured. We would hate to see any injuries come about due to an unfortunate accident.

There have been some posts on other pages about dogs getting sick this past week after visiting TSP. We have reached out to the Town to see if by chance something has been applied to the soccer fields that may be affecting the off-leash area. We will also do a visual inspection at the park looking for anything unusual.

A reminder, this Sunday, Father's Day, the Cedarvale Off-leash Park will be closed for the day in order to host the Classics for Cancer Car Show. Trafalgar Sports Park will not be affected other than increased usage for the day.

TSP Construction Update:

Construction has started.

We have left the small dog area open for use during the construction.

Expect the TSP dog park to be closed for the week.

We will keep you posted as things progress.

We are again receiving complaints about the amount of dog p**p not being picked up in the park. Just a reminder, the park is monitored and maintained by VOLUNTEERS. It is not their responsibility to pickup after complacent dog owners. A lot of hard work goes into establishing the parks by the volunteers and it is disappointing to see people abusing the open space our dogs have come to enjoy. The volunteers have arranged to supply p**p bags at all our parks in case you forget to bring yours or fido happens to p**p more than once. TSP also has a p**p recycling program “Sutera” just outside the gate. Picking up and leaving it on a bench, table or fence is happening far too often. Please, do your part in keeping the park clean and p**p free.
