Ever wondered why we at GVC emphasize the importance of deworming your pets? It's simple: parasites are disgusting, life-sucking pests that steal nutrients while living comfortably in your pet's GI tract! Animals of any age can encounter these unwanted guests, which can cause problems once they take hold.
Common types of worms include:
- Roundworms
- Hookworms
- Whipworms
- Tapeworms
- Heartworms
If your pet is infected, they may experience:
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal pain
- Lethargy
- Weight loss
And to make matters worse, hookworms and whipworms can even suck blood, leading to anemia in your pet.
It's a sneaky process - your pet can become a host simply by eating an infected cricket or other intermediate host. Once that happens, the parasite takes over, using your pet as its new home. Don't let these pesky parasites take hold! Regular deworming is crucial to keep your furry friends healthy and happy.

Nail Trims Without the Stress!
Does your furry friend dread nail trims? At GVC, we understand that nail care can be a source of anxiety for pets. That's why we offer sedation options to make the experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
Choose from:
- Oral sedation before your appointment
- In-clinic sedation by injection
Sedation can help alleviate your pet's fears and make nail trims a breeze. Don't let nail care become a source of stress.
Here you see Nova, who is overly hyper and doesn't like to sit still. Her owner (Breann) decided the safest way for her nail trim would be with sedation (Dr. Anderson agreed!) She's currently enjoying an afternoon of rest sleeping off the sedation.

Do you ever wonder why your cat keeps scratching its ears??
Thereβs a good chance that Ear mites are having a party in there!! π₯³π³
What are ear mites??
They are tiny, highly contagious parasites that lives in cats external ear canals and cause itching, irritation and sometimes secondary bacterial or yeast infections.
It takes 3 weeks for a mite to develop from an egg to an adult. Adult ear mites live about 2 months, during which time they continually reproduce.
Early detection can help prevent the spread to other cats.
Signs to watch out for:
- Dry, black ear discharge that resembles coffee grounds
- Small wounds or lesions near the base of the ear from excessive scratching
- Head shaking
- Irritation and inflammation in ears
