Today Siksika Animal Services went into COSS to educate the little ones about dog safety. 🐶❤️ The team did amazing!! The little ones loved it and we left them with some knowledge we hope they will remember 😊

There has been numerous reported dogs with Quills, some nuisance wildlife that need to be managed and numerous surrenders still on the HUGE waiting list. We will do our best to get to everyone. ❤️ If you have means to help these animals please do, SAS can use all the help they can ❤️

Encountering porcupine quills can be a real challenge for both small and farm animals. Here’s what you need to know:

- 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤: Porcupine quills can pose a serious risk if they get lodged in your pets or livestock. Quills are barbed and can pe*****te deeply, causing pain and potential infections.
- 𝐈𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: If you find quills in your animal, seek veterinary help right away. Removing them improperly can cause more harm.
- 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬: Keep your animals away from areas where porcupines are known to roam.
- 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞: Regularly check your animals for any signs of quills or other injuries, especially if they’ve been in areas where porcupines might be present.

At this time it is near impossible to find placement and we ask for patience as we are trying and will continue to do our best to assist with the high demand of surrenders! We do realize there are numerous strays and abandon dogs and we are desperately trying to find placement for all. Unfortunately Rescues in Alberta are full. Please if you see a dog that needs help, and you have means to help, please do so ❤️🐶🐱🐾

There has been another Bear sighting on the Nation. He was just seen crossing the highway leaving Muskrat running towards the Stobart area. Please do not approach and keep an eye on your Pets! Stay Safe 🐾🐻

Siksika Animal Services had its first Vaccination Clinic today. It was so nice to see so many Nation members bring their fur babies for their shots 🐱🐶🐾 Special thanks to Strathmore Animal Care for helping us make this possible ❤️ We will be doing another clinic soon, stayed tuned for the future Dates 👍🏽
