Surely the best way to enjoy the forest is to live in one – if only for a day! Pick-up/Drop-off Dog Chauffeur Service is included in initial pricing as an introductory offer in Goderich area, if you wish to personally drop off your canine camper, you may do so. Please give us a minimum of 24hr cancellation policy to avoid being charged. Forest Tails Location: is secluded on a private 12-acre property with a full growth forest and a swimmable spring fed pond with no neighbours bordering on 125 acres of conservation land and trails. It's surrounded with farmer fields on two sides and a conservation on the other two sides. Situated: on the west coast of Ontario just 2.5 kms away from Lake Huron in-between Goderich and Bayfield. Forest Play Space: The 1/2 acre fenced in pen area is nestled amongst a cathedral of tall trees which provide natural protection from the elements offering shade and cooler temperatures in the summertime and partially sheltered from heavy snow and sleet in the winter. The outdoor pen is equipped with hand made log jumps and trees to weave and hide and chase around. Four dry rest areas are included, two are indoors which include heat. One is inside a doggy caravan which has a wood burning fireplace and the other is an 1800’s log cabin where dogs will have their choice of seat. The dog-fitted heated camper caravan is an excellent spot in the pen on colder days for your canine campers to come in out of the cold and get warmed up by some warmed low sodium beef & chicken broth. The caravan also doubles as the doggy camp tuck shop, where dogs will receive their daily treats and should it be your besties birthday, their specialized homemade pumpkin, banana and peanut butter pup cake (please see birthday party package & pics). Although dogs are enclosed and sheltered from the elements while in the dry areas within the pen, they are still snouts to the breeze and under the big trees so never feel trapped or shut-in. The power of scent & mental stimulation: Did you know that according to scientists, a dog’s sense of smell is between 10,000 and 100,000 times as acute as a person’s? Imagine then the sensory wonders your canine camper will experience at Forest Tails, from a squirrel tail swishing up a nearby tree to the fox scent in nearby groves from the night before to a rotten apple a mile away. Scenting is a wonderfully natural enrichment activity in the enchanted forest setting and works the brain, which offers mental enrichment and fatigues campers. A natural stunning sanctuary for any nature loving human and animal alike. From the leaves changing colour in the Fall, to the birds fluttering and chirping in the summer to the frogs magically singing on the pond starting in May. Dogs will never get listless or bored at the enchanted forest day camp. A physically and mentally tired dog as they say, is a happy camper! Dogs love going on walks and the private trails here provide for ample opportunities for a variety of scents, terrains, woods, fields, trails and pond. It literally is a walking paradise. Campers are grouped together based on size, play styles and physical limitations, so every canine camper will enjoy a fun day of play. For younger dogs, program activities focus on positive behavior and development through a balanced play schedule. For our senior dogs, play schedules incorporate activities focused on mobility and cognitive health. At the end of a fun and active 3 hours at Doggie Day Camp, our goal is to have canine campers of all sizes and ages socialized, exercised and in a restful peaceful state ready to greet you back at home. Our pet-loving, safety-orientated Day Camp Counselors supervise your dog. On their first day, we’ll email you a photo of your happy camper. Then at the end of their day, we’ll provide a report detailing how they did. An Enchanted Forest Day
We developed our enchanted forest day experience schedule because we know your fur babies respond best to a combination of enriched stimulation and appropriate rest. Games provide exercise and mental stimulation and help with obedience, manners and your dog’s confidence. Sensory activities like bubbles, live guitar with songs from Eric and Tiffany’s story time can be stimulating and/or relaxing for your pup. Rough Daily Schedule:
10:00-11:00a.m: Day Camp begins with our Meet & Greet hour which includes socialization & the introduction of “leader of the pack” skills (calm assertiveness, right timing, knowing the pack, setting boundaries for play etc).
• Any dog who has requested Hide N Sniff walkies in the forest will receive it now.
• Any dog who has requested separate ball toss/frisbee play will receive it now.
• Pups will have many opportunities for warm-up throughout camp.
11:00-11:30: Fun & Games includes physical & cognitive playtime with log jumping, hula hoop pass through, bubble blowing, find your favorite stick and follow the leader.
• Any camper who has a birthday party package will enjoy that now.
11:30-noon: Treat & Skill Enrichment Session at caravan tuck shop, each dog receives a delicious treat. Skill Enrichment gives your dog a chance to practice skills & tricks like “spin” & “group sit.” etc.
• Any fur baby who requires medication or lunch-time meal will receive it now.
• Campers will be selected for 20 min walkies on private nature trails
Noon-12:20p.m warm-up in colder weather in caravan, tented areas or log cabin around wood burning fire. This may include live guitar and singing with Eric, classical music and/or story-time. This is a de-escalation from excited play into a relaxed rest.
12:20-12:50p.m campers are encouraged to enjoy safe play and socialization with their new favored campers in the pen.
• Any canines who have requested ball toss or frisbee in yard or a private walk will receive that now.
12:50-1:30p.m canine campers are loaded into their appropriate vehicles with wiped paws and happy wags to be chauffeured safely back to their homes.

Forest Tails Team will need to meet with you and your animal companion prior to their first day at camp. The health and wellbeing of your pet is our top priority. We will need verification of the following vaccinations & health information:
1. DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus & Parainfluenza) required. A 3 yr. vaccine booster is common.
2. Bordetella – required every 12 months for kennel cough, ideally less than 6 months prior to arrival. This is usually only given at pet owners request.
3. Rabies: 1 or 3 yr. vaccine required.
4. Leptospirosis-strongly recommended especially if swimming
5. Fleas & Ticks: All dogs should be flea and tick free prior to arrival and treatment should be current. Natural solutions ok.
6. Canine Influenza- recommended but not mandatory. Written proof from your veterinarian is required. If an updated vaccine is needed, this should be administered at least 3 days prior to arrival at camp. Enforcement of the Rules:

Forest Tails reserves the right to refuse admittance to any canine camper who:
• Lacks proof of vaccination
• Displays evidence of untreated or potentially contagious conditions
• Fails Forest Tails standard health and temperament requirements
• Demonstrates aggressive behaviour

Your dog’s human will be notified of the theme for the day in advance of camp. Some themed days include ugly sweater day, bo**ie boogie day, and more! Book the whole space for your dog friendly event: Whatever you are celebrating, be it a birthday or training graduation, afternoon and weekend availability. Customizable/Price tbd. Rewarding your Referral: Refer a dog friend and earn your pup and his/her pal a homemade scrumptious doggy pup-cake. (photo of dogs enjoying their tasty delight to be sent that day)

Pawsitive Pluses:
Birthday Party package: Enchanted forest tea party! Your birthday canine camper will get celebrated in birthday appropriate attire and hat to celebrate their special day as well as their very own homemade pup cake with candle (please see bday pics). Other dogs may participate in the celebration too with birthday hats and special surprise wardrobe items where possible. Makes a great keepsake to mark the special years! Cost: $15.00

Individual Hide N Sniff Walkies: your best friend will be taken for their own leashed/off-leash private extra15 min trail walk on our own private trails to sniff out pre-hidden liver treats in the forest. This opportunity allows for great mental stimulation which tends to fatigue your pal nicely and bring lots of fevered tail wags! Cost: $10.00 includes 5 medium sized liver treats. Private Ball Toss & Frisbee Sessions: if your pal loves to catch and play fetch, this is ideal for them! Private large cleared lawn area ideal for individual or group fetch. (Please note: Dependent on resource guarding activity of your camper dog, this may need to be a private session) Time:10 min

Training Reinforcement: Whatever training skill or behavior your dog is currently working on, let us spend some quality one on one time with your bestie to reinforce these skills into their daily camp stay. Cost: $10.00 (Limited to 3 dogs per day)

Seasonal Activities:

Summertime Pond Swims: Beautiful clear spring fed pond swimming for individual or group sessions with dock diving. Pictures available at end of the day. If your dog can be off-leash great, if not a long 50 foot leash will be used for swimming. Cost: $10.00

Adventure Dog Days of Summer: A few special days out of the week and month, your dog and friends will pile into a retro-fitted bus or auto and go on a triple threat adventure day! We will hit up the lake for swims, the river to run in and along and the forest to hike. This will include appropriate rest, snacks and supervision at all times. (Photos will be sent to owners afterwards at no extra charge.) Cost: tbd. BIOS

TIFFANY JONES-Co-Owner/Operator

You may have seen Tiffany on and around the nature trails in Goderich with her two dog children Gracie and Wolfi. She has been an animal lover and nature enthusiast her whole life and this is a dream come true for her to use her compassion and dog communication skills to take care and bring joy to your fur babies on the daily while being ensconced in nature. Tiffany has had a few careers spanning from advertising to sales, to speaking on cruise ships, corporate training to hosting a live television show both in Canada and the USA. She has a degree in Arts (French/Philosophy), a Post-Graduate degree in Corporate Health & Wellness and has her Personal Support Worker Diploma and has enjoyed being a PSW for the last several years in Central Huron. She is trained in alternative health care modalities such as Reiki and Therapeutic Touch and hopes to expand her background in Women’s Nature Wellness Retreats and Workshops on the property starting this summer. Tiffany is also further interested in being certified in Animal Communication & Healing. Dog First Aid Trained. ERIC CALDER-Co-Owner/Operator

Eric Calder is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenseman who played two games in the National Hockey League with the Washington Capitals. He was originally drafted by the Capitals in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft.[1] and went on to play professionally for France & Germany. Eric Calder, has his Bachelor of Arts and Diploma in Business Administration at Wilfrid Laurier University, NCCP High Performance II with Hockey Canada, NCCP Hockey Canada Certified Skills Coach, Can-Fit-Pro Certified Personal Trainer, First Aid (Trainer 2)
Eric is a Certified NCCP High Performance 2 Coach with NCCP Level 3 Theory and a Certified Skills Coach from Hockey Canada. As well a Can-Fit-Pro Certified Personal Trainer with First Aid (Trainer 2 certification). He has been one of the most sought-after instructors in the area for many years. His professional coaching includes Canadian University, Junior B, Elite Professional and Junior hockey in Europe, and 21 years with Skills Plus Hockey, along with many years of Minor Hockey Coaching and Training. Eric lectured in the Kinesiology Department on the Theory of Hockey at Wilfrid Laurier University from 2004 – 2015. Eric has enjoyed his own animal companions during his active lifetime whether hiking, biking or skiing. Eric is now semi-retired and plans to lead group team building/hockey training camps at the cabin retreat during parts of the year here in Goderich. His gift of speaking, training, listening and guiding people directly transfers to his passion for animal welfare and guiding the dogs he looks after so that they can feel fulfilled and optimized in the natural forest environment.
