We know that treating skin allergies is not one-size-fits-all. Treatment depends on the underlying cause, such as allergies, parasites, bacterial or fungal infections. If you notice your pet excessively scratching, licking, biting or scooting, contact us so we can determine the cause and treatment plan – then give them a little scratch of love behind the ear! 😊

Do you ever leave your pet’s food outside? Be aware that this attracts wildlife like bats, raccoons, foxes, and more that can potentially expose your dog or cat to rabies. So please remember: ❌ Don’t leave food outside ✅ Do vaccinate your pet against rabies Contact us today to check and see if your pet is up-to-date on their vaccines http://mypetsvet.ca

If you are bringing a dog to the U.S. from a rabies-free or low-risk country, all you have to do is fill out the simple CDC Dog Import Form. Other forms which were previously shared are no longer required. Requirements for dogs coming from high-risk countries have not changed, and these dogs must always be provided with additional documentation. To go to the USA: 1: Fill out the simple CDC dog import form and keep a copy of the form to show to customs officers. This form can be saved on your phone or printed. Valid for multiple entries for 6 months. 2. The dog must be healthy, microchipped and at least 6 months old. For more information: https://bit.ly/2vuPPd2

We have had a few questions regarding the New Travel requirements to the US from our clients who are snowbirds. We will be asking you at your appointments if you go to the US with your pet to determine if your pet will need a microchip.

Hopefully this helps and if you have questions, please contact our office, we are glad to help. We will get through it together.

As of August 1, 2024, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the USA will be implementing some changes to the requirements for all dogs entering the USA from Canada.

Normally, a dog only requires proof of Rabies vaccination. After August 1, your dog will also require an ISO-compliant microchip, a certification form from the vet , and an Import Form that you fill out yourself. Your dog must also be at least 6 months of age. If you are travelling, please begin preparing for travel 60-90 days before you leave. The microchip has to be given before the Rabies vaccine as well.

These requirements are still being confirmed. Any updates and additional information can be found at the link below. Please note that Canada is considered low-risk for dog-mediated rabies virus variant (DMRVV) which has a different set of requirements compared to high-risk countries.

Call us today to inquire about microchipping.
A microchip is a tiny, chip that's placed underneath your cat's skin, usually around the shoulder area. And the purpose of it is to be a form of identification read by a handheld scanner should your cat get lost and wind up at the shelter or a veterinary hospital.
