What is Doggie Day Care?

It’s a day at the kennel, of course! With easy morning drop off and same evening pick up, it’s a great experience for all dogs.

They get to socialize, gain confidence, and learn new things- and it’s not just for puppies!

Daisy is a regular and learning so many important skills while she plays!

Along with free play and just getting to burn off puppy energy, Daisy is learning how to be part of packs that don’t always play.

She is learning the nuances between playing with senior dogs and little puppies!

Winnie taught her that little dogs don’t always like to be chased but will hang out happily🐶

Daisy even is working on her recall while being in a pack!
Daisy is growing to be a well rounded, play appropriate, and social girl.

Axel the snowball. Keeping him dry was almost impossible…okay it was impossible!😂
Can you tell Coal likes silly talk? He comes in like a wrecking ball for silly talk and scritches🤣
These boys have been on an extended stay and play and will be missed! Now they are off to stay with Grandma and Grandpa❤️

🛑Xylitol is toxic to dogs.🛑

A friend of a friend’s dog was hospitalized recently because of this toxin. So this is just a reminder about this rather common ingredient.

Xylitol is a sugar alcohol that looks and tastes like sugar and is extremely toxic to dogs. It also may be known as birch sugar or wood sugar.

Slightly lower in calories than sugar, this sugar substitute is also often used to sweeten sugar-free candy, such as mints and chocolate bars, as well as sugar-free chewing gum. Other products that may contain xylitol include:
* breath mints
* baked goods
* cough syrup
* children’s and adult chewable vitamins
* mouthwash
* toothpaste
* some peanut and nut butters
* over-the-counter medicines
* dietary supplements
* sugar-free desserts, including "skinny" ice cream
* some Benadryl formulations(liquid and capsules)

Symptoms of xylitol poisoning in dogs include vomiting, followed by symptoms associated with the sudden lowering of your dog’s blood sugar, such as decreased activity, weakness, staggering, incoordination, collapse and seizures.

Partner❤️

Who remembers our little German Shep named Partner? She came to me at 12 weeks old, just a bundle of head tilting fur!

Her human was an elderly gentleman and we made an agreement, that if anything happened to him, I would keep her.

When in my care, she lived in my house with me and worked in the kennel. I trained her, took her to puppy classes, and even did her grooming until she became too big. I was raising her to be mine. I loved her, she was my girl and she played with every dog in the kennel.

She was one of the faces of Trillium Woods and my Partner!

She would get dropped off every time with an order of sausages from a local cafe. Her owner wondered why he couldn’t keep her off the spare bed….Opps, I use to let her on my couch🤣

Sadly, her owner passed away while Partner was in my care. It was the height of the Pandemic and the kennel business was struggling financially with all the travel restrictions and lock downs.

I had no idea what the future held, but keeping Partner was no longer an option.

A friend of Partner’s human reached out to me, he offered to take her. I had to let my girl go, it was the hardest thing ever to do saying good bye to a pup I called mine.

With promises of updates and photos and alot of tears, Partner set off to her new adventure. She was welcomed into a family where she helps raise three boys. I get regular updates including all her Christmas photos and her antics.

Partner is still cheeky with her recall, but she has grown into a strong confident girl. She has claimed the futon as her bed and even goes to work with her human Dad.

Her family loves this beautiful girl and my hearts so happy that she is where she belongs now.

So for all of you who have wondered where this girl went, she is living her best, completely loved life raising a family and keeping everyone safe under her watchful eye.

Dog Days of Winter❄️
This is a typical doggie day here that starts between 6:30 and 7am and goes till about 9pm. Its hound hustling all day❤️
We have our minglers, our hang arounders, our ruff and tumblers, our just happy to be here and our snow rollers. These puppy guests were Mondays crew.
