Golden Skull Works

Golden Skull Works Where nature meets art Experience:

Alex & Russell are passionate outdoorsmen with over 60yrs of combined hunting, trapping and outdoors experience.

Alex is a graduate of Second Nature school of taxidermy in Montana. After noticing an increased demand for professional skull preparation services in the area, the focus shifted to the creation of Golden Skull Works. Before dropping off your skull:

Skinning the skull, removing the eyes, tongue and brain as well as excess tissue and the lower jaw will led to a quicker turnaround. Caution must be u

sed when preparing the skull as sharp tools and knives can damage bone. A small fee will be applied to skulls needing fleshing. The legal stuff:

The Species license, LEH, CI data sheet, Trapper’s licence and/or general wildlife permit (if applicable) must accompany the wildlife at the time of reception. Unfortunately, we cannot accept deer, moose, caribou or elk from out of province. Turnaround:

Turnaround time varies depending on the time of year. Expect longer delays during hunting season. Degreasing is the most time consuming part of the process. A bear skull for example can take up to 6 months to degrease!

We were delighted to have been entrusted with this Caribou in velvet project. It was a long and tedious process but completely worth it!

In ideal conditions, the natural velvet can be preserved but in most cases, such as this, velvet has to be recreated.
