Miss Maddie has taken her show on the road to create this collage! Her owners went on a road trip and definitely continued to train wherever they may go!

You see, if you haven’t expanded training beyond your own yard, how could you expect the same results in new areas. Gradually go to more increasingly challenging areas as behaviours solidify.

Happy Halloween!

For many dog owners, Halloween can be an ordeal. Constant ringing doorbells, people in costumes, and open doors throughout the evening can be problematic

Keep an eye on your pooches and be sure they are enjoying it too. For some dogs creating a safe space with background sounds can lessen the impact of all the festivities!

Happy Saturday!

Oh those canine’s! When a dog is eager to play fetch this is a perfect opportunity to begin the command “drop it”.

Because it’s play, dogs tend to give up the toy to then have it thrown again. This association can later be used with better success when the dog has something it shouldn’t have in its mouth.

3 of a kind!

Multi-dog homes can be considerably more of a challenge to attain solid behaviour and relevance. Each dog must learn individually Only once the foundation is solid would having 2, 3, or 4 or more working together be a reasonable expectation.

Being your dog’s advocate and voice can be a hard conversation to manage.

As examples, Dealing with the :

“My dog is friendly” owners whom don’t understand that not all dogs want to be approached. Or…

“Can I pet your dog, may I give them a treat” or blatantly reach out to do so. Or…

The UPS delivery person persistent upon hand delivery your package as dogs are upset at the fence line.

Be polite.
Voice your disapproval.
Be clear what needs to happen to resolve issue.
Be grateful.

Sunday smiles with Nanna!

The phenomenon of “smiling” is becoming more and more frequent in dogs. This is 100% a result of watching our human facial expressions and attempting to mimic them, as they associate it with happy energy!

I know there are more dogs out there. Show us those toothy grins!

Oh those canines!

How often has your dog acted like it wasn’t fed? This is a great way to ensure there are no second suppers.

Dogs are self serving creatures and if they can get away with something that benefits them, I assure you they will! try!

As ridiculous as this meme is, it speaks to the reality of having strangers talk, approach, or boldly try to pet your dog without interacting with you.

Service dogs are on another level but every dog owner needs to learn to be their dogs best advocate.

Speak up if you’re uncomfortable with an encounter, your dog will appreciate it!!!

Throwback Thursday; 2 decades ago! My two delinquents that started it all

Albert, an American Bulldog developed human reactivity & later aggression as a result of no fault. He spent the majority of his time with my late wife whom was disabled and he felt that he needed to protect.

Tribe, an Alaskan Malamute developed dog aggression as a result of being mauled by a loose dog, at the age of 7 months. She never looked at another dog the same way.

I do what I do because I want to help those struggling with behaviours that are not acceptable. Those that just require guidance to become better are a dream client.
