Ruff Around the Edges - Dog Training and Rehabilitation has helped our shelter with dogs who wouldn’t have been placed otherwise. Sophie is one of their many success stories! 🩷 This rescue does great work for animals who may not have anywhere else to turn.

Want to know what we do as a rescue?

Well let’s start from the beginning! 7 years ago we were contacted by Exploits Valley SPCA about Sophie.
Sophie was removed from a hoarding situation where she was bullied and starved for food. Sophie trusted no one and was extremely dog aggressive.

Marina and her family agreed to “foster” Sophie as she went through her rehabilitation process. It was a lengthy one which took a year but Sophie learned to trust and love again. A dog that hid behind couches and ran from people, a dog who tried to attack other dogs from kms away could finally accept love and learned other dogs weren’t so bad.

Who knows how Sophie would have made out. Sophie became a permanent member of Marina’s family however Marina contacted us before Christmas stating Sophie had crossed rainbow bridge. BUT Sophie knew love, and that’s all we ever wanted for this once broken girl!

So here is a touch of what we do as well as an honor of Sophie post! Our first rescue that will never be forgotten.

We would love to take on an owner relinquished pet waiting to get in but since posting our plea we have only received one donation from Darlene Bradley for 25 dollars!

RESCUE UPDATE:

At the end of last year we made the announcement that due to lack of donations and transparency we would not be taking owned pets at this time.

We have had so many people reach out looking for help that our hearts are completely shattered that we had to turn them away with no options in sight as the SPCA’s can’t take them.

We would like to get back into helping these dogs of course one dog at a time!

We cannot work on little to no funds so we are asking anyone who can donate and help us get some owned pets in to please do so! Unfortunately the amount of requests coming in FAR exceeds the donations we receive! Whether it be 2 dollars, 5 dollars ANYTHING helps! PLEASE help us help these animals!

❣️Special home needed❣️

It’s no wonder she has diabetes because Lulu is in fact, extra sweet! 😻🍭 Having diabetes is only one part of Lulu. She also has a vibrant coat of colours and an adorable BOBTAIL! She’s only 2 years old, already spayed and fully vetted. She is incredibly loveable to people and gets along great with other cats. She requires 2 needles daily 12 hours apart. She has a supply of needles and insulin to go with her. Many animals have diabetes and live long healthy lives. They require very little maintenance once managed, like Lulu is. Anyone who has cared for a diabetic pet - please comment below! Share your experiences and help Lulu find someone to love her. 🥹 She had to come to the shelter early and has gone into foster care. It’s hard to find a home for a pet who needs medication but we know the perfect people are out there for her. 🙏✨ Please share and tag anyone who might be willing to open their heart and home to sweeter than sweet Lulu!

Another happy adoption day!! 🥳🥰
It was clear almost immediately into her trial that June (previously Sadie) was there to stay. She has fallen in love with her new human brother Cole, follows him everywhere and has slept in his bed each night. 🥹 Does the heart good doesn’t it?? Happy ever after sweet June & fam! 💜🩷❤️

Sophie & Snookie are a mama daughter duo who have stayed together their whole lives. At 13 & 11 that’s been a long time and we won’t see them separated now. 🩷 The girls are looking for a home together. They could coexist with others in time but would prefer to be the onlys. Sophie can be a bit of a bully to other cats. Don’t let their age deter you. They have both been to the vet, recently spayed and in good health. The girls are very sweet and comical. They plan to entertain their future owner for many years to come! Adopting senior pets is so rewarding and so needed. These lovely ladies deserve to be spending their golden years in the peak of comfort, not at a busy shelter! Please consider them! 🙏

It’s ✨official✨ Jip has found his forever family. Thank you Annabelle, Cody and Echo for being extremely patient and understanding with Jip. He is a true rescue who came with a lot of baggage. It may have taken awhile but he found a home willing to help him unpack! Every dog deserves a chance and luckily Jip got his. ❤️

Sweet Summer has returned to the shelter for another try at finding the perfect home. This time she would love to be the only! We didn’t know it back then but she’s not a huge fan of other cats and would do the very best as an only kitty. Summer is estimated around 2 years old. She’s absolutely stunning and loves people. She first came to the shelter after being found in a shed with newborn babies. She’s now spayed, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, vaccinated and dewormed. All anyone wants for Valentine’s Day is a little hugs & kisses right? ❤️❌⭕️

Well we have one of each!! 8 week old Hugs & Kisses have arrived looking for homes! These adorable little babies are petite and sweet. They grew up in a home and are used to human love.
Hugs is the grey tabby girl and Kisses is a calico tabby. She has the sweetest orange highlights through her coat! Both have been given their first vaccines and have been dewormed. FOUND - Seventeeth Ave/George street area

This beautiful intact male has been seen roaming since July of last year. He has been evading capture despite many efforts of concerned cat lovers in the area. Finally, he’s been rescued! It has been rumoured his previous owner passed away and he’s been surviving outside ever since. Sweet Sadie is looking for a home! 💛 This dainty little doll is such a catch! She is 2 years young (3 in July), spayed and has her basic training. Sadie is timid by nature but once she warms up she loves giving hugs and kisses. She has never been used for hunting but loves to go on adventures on leash! Sadie does well with other animals and would especially love to have a dog sibling. She’s very active and loves to play. Sadie’s small and slender weighing in around 30 pounds. The perfect little buddy to go everywhere with you. 😻

He came to the shelter not yet neutered and would be available to adopt under a neuter contract. He’s been vaccinated, flea treated and dewormed. Ty gets along great with cats, dogs, humans, everyone and everything. He would be an easy addition to any loving home. Just come visit and he will convince you himself. 😽
