❣️Special home needed❣️

Rosco was adopted from our shelter about a year and a half ago after his owner died. He went to a busy home with children. Although they tried, they’ve resolved to the fact that they may not be the home he needs. Rosco is now nipping and biting more frequently and they now know he needs a different environment. His original owner was a single older gentleman who lived alone. We were told Rosco did well with children/animals of all kind but maybe that was in smaller doses. He doesn’t like sudden movements and is stressed by change. Rosco does great with other dogs and might like a home where he could have a dog sibling to learn from. He’s around 5-6 years old, neutered, fully vetted. He needs an *experienced* home to help curb this bad behaviour. We will not consider any homes with children. Rosco is small, around 20 pounds. He enjoys walks and car rides. He is on the wait list to potentially go to a training facility but we’ve decided to post incase a perfect home can be found.

A very sad series of events had this healthy senior cat facing euthanasia this morning. Luckily we were able to intervene and save his life. He may end up spending Christmas in the shelter but that is far better than the alternative. Sweet Shady is a neutered male 8-10 years old. He is a huuuge fella, tall and solid! He did live with a dog in his past and doesn’t seem to have a reaction to cats. Shady is available for adoption at a discounted fee in hopes he can find a comfortable place to live out the rest of his days. He has no known health problems and 8-10 is hardly senior for most kitties. He has lots of love to give, has only just arrived but is already very receptive to the staff and volunteers. Shady’s so hopeful that all this Christmas magic might throw one more Christmas miracle our way and land him in a home! 🤞🙏✨

The saddest update right before Christmas!! The golden girls may end up back in the shelter if they can’t find a new home ASAP. Their owner is unable to care for them now and although heartbroken must let them go. Please read their original post below, share and tag anyone who may be interested in adopting them. Mya & Hawkins are the SWEETEST senior sissies you’ll ever meet. At 15 years young 2 fluffy orange gals have ended up in the shelter through no fault of their own. First of all.. they really don’t seem 15! They have no known health issues, they’re both spayed, in good condition and are as loveable as can be. The girls rush to the front of the cage for pets and love. 😻 It’s really sad when any senior animal comes to the shelter. Their golden years should be spent being pampered, spoiled and cherished! Please help Mya & Hawkins find just that.. the retirement home of their dreams! The girls would be ok with quiet animals who would be “on their level” aka keep to themselves, very chill and not rambunctious.

HAPPY UPDATE 😭❤️
Well.. it turns out Bella didn’t have to spend one single night in the shelter. Bella’s groomer Andrea saw her posted online and immediately set things into motion. After working all day she drove through the storm to get her saying she couldn’t stand to have her there alone. Bella knew Andrea right away and started crying and jumping on her with joy. Come on Santa, come on Christmas magic 🎅🏻✨

Lilly has been waiting for 153 days for a home hating her surroundings! 💔 She is Catmas cat #2 meaning she has had the second longest wait in the shelter. She truly wants to be the only pet in the household. As you can see, she has her cage wide open now but she doesn’t want to be near other cats. There’s only 4 others in the room and it’s too many for Lilly. Lilly is 2 years old, spayed, fully vaccinated and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. She is the full package just uncomfortable here. We know she will truly blossom in a home where she’s the only pet. 🙏✨ There’s been multiple applications for Beverly, Mistletoe… now we need someone for Lilly! 🤞🩷💚❤️

Tag anyone who might be the perfect fit to spoil our sweet Lilly cat, get her out of the shelter where she’s miserable and into her happy ever after just in time for Christmas!

Thank you to all who came out to the tree lighting event on Saturday. It was a chilly but beautiful day. Thank you to Tim Horton’s for the hot chocolate and treats... definitely hit the spot. Thank you to Reverand Robin for doing the blessing of the trees. The trees will be lit all through Christmas in memory and in honour of the pets listed below.

You won’t believe it.. the most adorable cat shaped Christmas elf arrived at the shelter!! 🙀✨ Her name is Mistletoe and she is FULL of Christmas spirit! She is the most prancy, fancy, dancey little kitty you’ll ever find. At only 2 years old she’s just a baby herself! She loves people and stands on her back tippy toes to get your attention. To make her EVEN CUTER Mistletoe has no tail.. just a crumpled little p**f where a tail should be! Clearly she’s a one of a kind magical cat shaped Christmas elf sent to make someone’s Christmas (and forevermore) incredibly special. At the risk of sounding like a broken record…
Is there anyone out there for our boy Jippy? 🥺

For those who might not know Jip is a 1.7 year old Akita mix who entered the shelter 178 days ago. We refer to him as a puppy in a big body because that’s what he is. He’s a big goof ball who doesn’t know his size or strength. (Look at him with his ducky toy, can’t even put it down to p*e 🙊😆) Jip had a bad rep when he entered the shelter. He came to us from a home who didn’t socialize him and tried to use force/anger to control him. We were told he was aggressive to other animals but are now finding out, it’s more that he hasn’t been given any chance to interact. He’s been neutered, fully vetted and experiencing socializing slowly and safely. Jip had the opportunity to meet another Akita face to face and it went wonderful. He was tested with a muzzle first for safety and eventually ended up playing without them. Clearly from the video you can tell they’re having the best time. 😸 We truly believe he could be great in a home with another large breed dog who could keep up to his size and strength. One who could teach him manners and how to be a dog. Jip is slowly learning at the shelter with positive reinforcement. He needs work and guidance but also has ✨FREE TRAINING✨ with Ruff Around the Edges - Dog Training and Rehabilitation! Alisha is obsessed with Akitas and knows exactly how to help you mould Jip into your dream dog.

So please.. share Jip’s profile, tag anyone who might be a fit for him. He is a good boy!! He needs to find someone who will commit to him and he will be your best, most loyal companion.

Our shelter extension contract has been awarded. Construction will soon start and Jip’s access to the back field (that he so loves) will become limited. He needs to find a home more than ever.
