Me and Trigger are having a blast taking part in class at Creating Connections! It is so nice to be able to sit in a class and feel so comfortable and welcomed🐾💕

Tonight Trigger was practicing his sit inside a hula hoop! 🎯 By adding props or changing environments, we help dogs learn to focus and respond to cues no matter where they are.

This type of practice builds confidence, strengthens their understanding of cues, and prepares them for real-world situations. 🐾

Who said “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks”? This month me and Trigger are sitting in with Kianna’s Community Canines class and learning a lot of new skills. Trigger is 8 years old and we are currently working on holding his Chin Rest🐾

Trigger is just one of many older dogs in classes here at Creating Connections! No matter the age, breed, or personality every dog can learn!

Did you know that we have Distemper Virus in our area?

What is Distemper Virus, you ask?

Canine Distemper Virus is a highly contagious virus that affects all canine species, including coyotes! Canine Distemper Virus is highly fatal and most commonly affects young puppies and unvaccinated dogs. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this virus, only supportive care.

The good news?
It is preventable with annual vaccination and proper disinfection. Is your dog coming due for vaccines? Right now, would be a great time to get them in before the holiday rush!

What are the symptoms of Canine Distemper Virus?

Fever
Lethargy
Loss of appetite
Vomiting and diarrhea
Eye and nose discharge
Seizures
Convulsions
Weakness
Head tilt

If your dog is showing any of these symptoms contact your veterinarian as soon as possible to get your dog in!

🌳☀️Watching the World☀️🌳

This weekend is a perfect time to get your dog out of the house and watch the world go by! You can do this from your front yard, your driveway, or anywhere you find yourself this weekend! The only goal is to watch and reward any calm/relaxed behaviour from your dog!
We do this to get our dogs used to the outside environment, traffic, people passing by, etc. It is the perfect activity to build confidence in your dogs.
Today I had about 30 minutes while I waited for the truck to be washed, so me and Trigger found a nice shady tree and watched the traffic go by. At the end of the session Trigger even layed down, showing me he was comfortable and relaxed!! A perfect end to an easy yet important training session!
