Now looking for a forever home through outsourced adoption, please meet Pistachio!

Pistachio is an approximately 7-year-old female red eared slider. Her shell measures about 7 inches. She has become more skittish lately because her owner has not been able to spend time with her, showing some aggression and attempting to bite, but not having bitten so far. She has a clear medical history, though some overfeeding and lack of husbandry by secondary care-takers has caused some pyramiding in her shell. Her owner bought her when he was young and has raised her over the years, but has been having increasingly less time to spend taking care of her, so he wants to find her an appropriate home that can give her the attention she deserves.

Pistachio's main diet has been turtle pellets and repti sticks, given to her once every couple of days. She was once fed lettuce but has since lost interest in it. She has been given grapes as treats at times which she seemed to enjoy, as well as the occasional meal worm. She has been given feeder fish which she seemed to enjoy chasing around in her tank. Pistachio does not come with an enclosure and the general rule for water turtles is 10 gallons of tank per inch of shell, so she will require a 75 gallon tank with appropriate filter, basking lamp and UVB, decorations and a basking spot for her to dry out on. Pistachio does not have an adoption fee.

We do have to note this animal has NOT been through DVRR's facility or quarantine. By applying to adopt you accept any and all responsibility for this animal if she does need to be vet checked.

To take Pistachio home proof of proper enclosure is required. Please respond to this ad and we will return the proper adoption forms and information to you. If you are unwilling to fill out our forms, please do not bother to reply.

Pistachio is located in North Battleford, SK and you will need your own transportation to pick her up. All documentation must be filled out prior to anything to protect both parties and our animals. Pistachio will be able to travel to Calgary on a specific date at the end of August.

We will not be available this weekend due to unfortunate events.
Severus, our black corn snake, passed away suddenly on Friday. She wasn't the most camera friendly snake, but she helped plenty of people learn about colors snakes come in, different personalities, and care. Her last year she helped the students at the Fairview GPRC campus get over some of their fears. She was a wonderful snake.

We will be answering messages again on Monday. Thank you all.

Butcher has gone and found herself a new home just in time for the holidays, and we wish her the best with her new family.

Lucy came to us from a breeder down south who was downsizing his collection. She is a very sweet girl but can get a bit quick when she wants to. She's small, and has a strange structure to her face, but she feeds nicely and we havent had any issues at all with her!
She is currently feeding on f/t and eats every few weeks.

Priss also came along with us from Saskatchewan, and he is definitely the most reserved of the group. He doesn't enjoy being handled as much as some of our other snakes and prefers to be left alone, but he cooperates well and has a calmer temperament.
He is currently feeding live as he is unwilling to take f/t.

Kiara is definitely one of our more fiesty girls, and likes to curl around any furniture she can find. A bit more handling would do her some good and we are working with her to get her more accustomed to it! She came to us with Mittens, Priss and Butcher from Saskatchewan.
She is eating f/t and is fully vet checked. S*x will be confirmed prior to adoption. She does have a blemish on the top of her head that has been looked at by a vet, and should heal up with a few shed cycles.

Mr. Snakey is a perky little guy with alot of curiosity! He is always out and about in his tub and likes to know whats going on.
We are unsure of s*x, and will confirm prior to adoption. He is eating f/t well and doesnt mind being handled, but could use some company.
We also keep calling him Spot due to the one little freckle on top of his head.
Spot is fully vet checked.

Butcher came to us from Saskatchewan along with Mittens, Priss and Kiara. We are told that Butcher is female, and will confirm this before being adopted out.
She is very nice to handle, and is currently having no problems eating f/t. Butcher has been fully vet checked.

A few quick updates before we head out for another party today!
- Michelangelo found his new home at the WCRExpo! We had a post made but Facebook ate it. Sorry about that.
- We have a whopping 5 new snakes that will be looking for homes soon! We'll keep you updated as they go; not everyone is feeding yet, and the ones that are will be going earlier.
- Echo, our big boa, is pending adoption! Her owners are building her new tank and she is very excited.

Last but not least, we will be at the Phillip J. Currey Dinosaur Museum on October 5th! Come check us out for a chance to learn about our snakes, some snakes from the past and interact with the ones in the present!

If he isn't claimed by the time the quarantine period comes and goes, he will be put up for adoption through the usual process.

Venus, our bigger escapee friend, goes home tomorrow!
