Chameleons can launch their tongues up to twice the length of their bodies? In the slo-mo video below, you can see our panther chameleon Pascal calibrating his shot and locking onto the hornworm with both eyes! A common misconception about chameleons is that they can change their colour to match their surroundings. While their natural colours are very good at camouflaging, they actually change colours to reflect their mood, or depending on temperatures! They also stutter step to mimic leaves in the wind!

Happy Friday and happy long weekend everyone! We are open during our regular hours for the weekend and 10am-4pm on Monday, with the education centre being open 11am-3pm! Come and see if you’re lucky enough to say hi to the kinkajous and visit some of our amazing rescues! The education centre is a great place to learn about the intense care these animals require, as well as some of the reasons why they cannot be released into the wild, such as habitat loss. You might even learn a cool fact or two!
