Advanced Obedience Part Two will be offered again in January, on Mondays @ 8:00 PM! This class is SUPER fun, we get to push the limits of our dogs training with creative exercises - it gets you bombproof results!

✨ Crate Training is an absolute MUST! ✨

There are so many reasons all dogs should be crate trained - here are some examples! 👇

• Puppies need to SLEEP to rest, grow, digest and reset! Your Puppy falling asleep on the floor is NOT the same as having a proper nap in their crate. Think of it like a human baby, if your 6 month old baby is so tired it passes out on the kitchen floor, that means you have failed to put them down for the proper rest they need! We all know what happens when babies are overtired…. puppies are JUST the same!

• Crate Training is one of the many ways you can prevent your dog from developing separation anxiety! You want to start crate training when you ARE home! When your dog is used to being in a crate while you’re home, they learn to be at relaxed when you’re apart!

• Vet / Groomer appointments involve a CRATE! When your dog is spayed/neutered or groomed and that’s where the first experience with crate containment is, you can BET they won’t have a good time! And that is a failure to prepare them on your part!

• Access to a safe space for your dog! If you live a busy life with other animals or children, you probably have a break from all of it when you go to work, see a movie, close your bedroom door etc. Your dog needs a break too! The crate should be a place your dog knows they will be left alone. Whether it’s to have a yummy bone away from other animals or children, or to take a break from people when they need one!

• Being Crate trained actually turns into freedom faster and more effectively than leaving your dog loose in your home from the start. Not ALL dogs can achieve the freedom of free roam in the house when they’re alone, but crate training allows you to teach them what you want them to do while you’re gone without all the destruction of property that usually comes with free roaming unsupervised.

• Any dog can incur an injury at any time, that could means crate rest! Veterinarians call it crate rest for a reason, not Free-roam-of-the-house-rest! A simple ligament tear can look likes months of being on crate rest / leash restriction, if your dog isn’t crate trained they can hurt themselves even more instead of recovering!

• Have you ever seen photos of dogs being rescued in any natural disaster? Yep, they’re CRATED! If your dog cannot go into a crate, or be safe in a crate, they may not be rescued in that kind of situation.

This. Move on from your dogs story !

We often hear from so many owners who are struggling “my dog is a rescue and exhibits (insert bad behavior here.)”

what WE actually hear is “my dog is displaying bad behavior.” The rescue part actually does not matter to us, and that’s not a downplay to those who have rescued dogs from some pretty horrific situations. What we mean is that your dogs history is in the past, and we can only move forward from here.

Whether the dog did come from bad circumstances or not, it still needs training, leadership, and structure just as any other dog would. Could their behavior be worse or more severe due to their past experiences? Sure. But that’s why we just address them as we see them, and we don’t spend too much time dwelling on the “why”.

We have worked with thousands of dogs with all different upbringings. We train them, we build their confidence, and we show them what leadership actually is. If you put them all in a room together, we would most likely not be able to tell the difference between the rescued dogs or the ones brought home at 8 weeks from a breeder.

All we find is that holding onto your dogs’ rescue story holds a lot of folks back. It stops them from doing what needs to be done because they are too emotionally invested in the dogs history. We don’t have the power to change the past. We can just make today the best we can—And the same goes for our dogs.

🚨INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED OBEDIENCE CLASSES!

Registration for our next set of classes is now open!

Please read fully and thoroughly before signing up.

* Classes are scheduled to start the week of January 6th, 2025.
* Intermediate Class is $350 tax included - Advanced Class is $300 tax included
* There is no registration day for Intermediate/Advanced Classes
* Classes are 1 hour long, held once per week, for 8 consecutive weeks.
* Two Handlers may attend per dog

Sign Up Instructions :

1. Choose which class you wish to attend from the schedule below.
2. Send the entire amount owing by E-Transfer to reserve your spot in the class. E-Transfers must be sent to [email protected] with the security answer set as SKIPLYN. In the message box you MUST include the following information : Your Name, Phone Number, Email, Class Time, Dogs Name, Dogs Breed & Dogs Age.
3. Once we receive your payment we will send a confirmation email, please make sure to check your junk/spam folder if you don’t see a confirmation email within 3 days of sending your payment.
4. Once you have read through the confirmation email please respond to acknowledge you have read the information.

Intermediate & Advanced Class Times January 2025 :

Monday 8:00 PM - Advanced Part 2 Obedience Class
Tuesday 8:00 PM - Intermediate Obedience Class
Thursday 6:45 PM - Intermediate Obedience Class
Thursday 8:00 PM - Advanced Obedience Class

IMPORTANT INFORMATION :

There is no registration night for Intermediate or Advanced Level, if your dogs vaccines have been updated since we saw them last please send us the vaccine records BEFORE class starts. Your dog must be up to date on all vaccines including Rabies, Boosters & Kennel Cough (Bordatella) to attend class.

If you are returning after a long break from Obedience Class please remember if your dog is aggressive towards dogs or people in the class you’ll be removed with no refund and required to do a private lesson before returning to class.

If you are require a private lesson before signing up send us a message on Facebook or Email us to get booked in. Private lessons are $150 / hr if there is any aggression or reactivity.

Registration for our next set of classes is now open!
Please read fully and thoroughly before signing up.

- Classes are scheduled to start the week of January 6th, 2025.
- Registration Day for anyone who has put a deposit to hold a spot will be Thursday January 2nd between 4:30-6:30 PM.
- Beginner Classes are $400 tax included
- Classes are 1 hour long, held once per week, for 8 consecutive weeks.
- Two handlers may attend per dog

Sign up Instructions :

If you cannot fit the required information in the E-Transfer message box please send a follow up email immediately after sending your payment.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION :

Your dog must be up to date on all vaccines (Rabies and Boosters) and additionally Kennel Cough (Bordatella) to attend class. Puppies don’t need to be completely finished their Puppy shots but they must be up to date for their age. Kennel Cough is not a mandatory vaccine so check your vet records before signing up to make sure you have what you need, or can get into the vet in time. There are no refunds if you end up not having the required vaccines for class.

Dogs that have any aggression or reactivity issues towards either dogs or people, are REQUIRED to do a private with Tammy prior to attending group class to ensure the dog is safe for classes. Failure to disclose this information prior to class will give us the right to revoke your privilege to participate in group classes with no refund or transfers.

Yesterday we welcome two new dudes into the Skiplyn Kennels Day Training Program! 😎

Rocco is a 1 year old Pocket Bully with a serious case of aggression in the crate and a habit of redirecting on his owners when he feels conflicted. His owners have put him through 3 levels of Obedience and have always tried their best with him since they adopted him! Rocco is a tough dog, but we’ve already seen improvements on only his 2nd day here!

Fitzroy is an 8 month old Wirehaired Pointing Griffin and he is here to earn his off leash freedom and impeccable obedience! A breed like this NEEDS the freedom of running off leash in the bush, no way around it! Fitzroy has the best owners for understanding the breed and their needs!

Come out and support over 35 teams entered including most of your Skiplyn instructors. Races start at 9 am -3 pm

This past weekend some of the Skiplyn Crew attended the Inverhuron Dryland Derby!

Everyone raced super well and had a blast! Special mention for Instructor Kristen who had a crash during her race but remained the most positive, cool & happy lady we all know and love so much! 💕

The cost is only $25.00 tax in per person which is an incredible deal! Tammy has been in the sport for over 10 years and will bless you with all of the knowledge and experience that comes with that! This seminar is a speaker/audience format, please leave your dogs at home.

Seminar attendees are encouraged to attend the local Dryland Race being held at Timberwolf Golf Course next Sunday November 10th to get an in person experience in the sport!
