Puppy Life Skills and Essential Life Skills graduates from last night! 😍

So much improvement in these dogs over the class set!! I love working with puppies right from almost day 1, it’s cool to watch them learn! And the Essentials group all overcame some personal challenges with their dogs which was so rewarding!

No rest for the weary, two new sets starting next week!

I will be hosting another leash walk session this Saturday October 12th! See poster for details.

We will meet outside the Greenwood Pet Valu and will be walking in the subdivisions nearby. We will not be walking the entire hour - we will talk about some training techniques before we get started and will stop every so often to discuss how to work through common problems. You will need to bring lots of treats and a treat pouch!

- this is not a “dog socialization” event: do not plan for your dog to physically meet or come into contact with the other dogs

Student Shoutout! 📣

Mike and Flynn earned their first “Q” (Qualifying Run) in their Starters Jumpers run at a sanctioned AAC agility trial this past weekend!! They also earned another Q in Gamblers, and received the ‘Judge’s Choice’ award!! 🤩

Mike wasn’t sold on agility when he first started, but like many of us have, he got the agility bug!!! He has practised hard with Flynn over this past year and they are a lovely team to watch, with so much potential!

Big congrats Mike!!

Goose, Gabby, Lucy, Lancer, Rory and Mercy had a great walk this afternoon! We did a few exercises to help the dogs settle in, as some weren’t used to walking around other dogs! And we had great success walking in front of Walmart in a busier environment. A bigger group of dogs helped increase the confidence of a couple dogs that struggle around people and traffic!

Jack and I had an amazing time at the IFCS World Agility Championships in France! We had probably our best agility performance ever, and I'm so proud of how we ran! It was an honour to represent Team Canada at this event!

We finished 12th overall in the 24" (600mm) height class, out of 62 dogs! Jack is such a wonderful agility partner and I'm so happy I got to experience this with him!

The sport of dog agility has taught me so much, and I've made many lasting friendships because of it. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with my students and love watching them improve and have fun with their dogs!

REGISTRATION OPEN!

I'm now taking registrations for Puppy Life Skills classes starting in September! These classes will run on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 7:00pm. Dates are: September 4, 11, 18 and October 9, 16, 23. The classes use games-based training methods and will cover puppy confidence games, self-control, focus, recall and how to train a sit and down using shaping!

If you'd like to register, please PM me or email me at [email protected] with your pup's name, age, and breed. The cost is $200 for the six-week course.

I am thinking of offering another Puppy Life Skills workshop series! The dates would be Sunday August 4th and Sunday August 25th from 9:00am-12:00pm, cost $200.

The Borderline group was well-represented at today’s agility fun match at Peck Meadow Dog Sport Field!! I’m incredibly proud of each person for stepping to the line and having fun with their dog! There were so many great connected moments and I’m really enjoying watching all of these teams grow! Great job everyone!!

I'm now taking registrations for Essential Life Skills Part 1! These classes will run on Wednesday evenings from July 3rd to August 7th. There will be 2 time slots offered: 6:00 - 7:00pm and 7:15 - 8:15pm. The cost is $200 for the six-week course. The classes use games-based training methods and will cover self-control, focus, confidence, optimism and boundary games!

If you'd like to register, please PM me or email me at [email protected] with your dog's name, age, breed and the time slot you'd like. As a reminder - please no dogs that are aggressive towards other dogs or humans!

I had such a fun time this morning at the first of two in the Puppy Workshop series! Aspen the Newfoundland, Henry the Pitbull/Boxer, Luna the Bernese, Champ the Australian Shepherd and Max the Border Collie were great pups to work with! They were all very sweet, smart and very eager to learn!

I am always so amazed to see how quickly young puppies learn the art of shaping. They were all confident and loved the games based training! Can’t wait to see them all again on June 23rd!!

Puppy Workshop Series!

When: June 2nd and June 23rd
Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm
Location: 1732 Meadowvale Road, Harmony (behind Greenwood)
Cost: $200

Due to some puppy interest, I will be hosting a Puppy Workshop series over two Sundays in June! During these workshops I will be going over all my class notes for Puppy Life Skills. As soon as you register, you'll have access to a Facebook group where you can review the notes and games videos for Lessons 1, 2 and 3, plus some additional bonus info! After the first workshop, I'll post the notes and videos for Lesson 4, 5 and 6.

The Puppy Workshop will accommodate 6-8 puppies up to 6 months of age. Older pups will be considered. Participants will be split into two groups, with 3-4 puppies working at a time. This will ensure all the pups have a break between sessions! We will also be covering some theory.

The training center has soft cushion flooring, chairs are provided, and it will be air conditioned!

Little Baby Belle came into the training center as an Optimism/Confidence experience for the dogs in the last Essential Life Skills class!

She didn’t do too bad with Boundary Training either!! 😂🐑
