Found this little guy out in the yard following the Guinnea Fowl around early last fall. Picked him up, brought him inside and did some research.
This is a domesticated pigeon that must have been released or flew off. It took us 9 months to get to this point, he basically hated us for the first 6 months. Pigeons are flock animals and do not survive solo in the wild, even if he was a native breed, but he has adopted us as his flock, and has become very affectionate and loving.
P.S. He is wearing a flight suit, so I don't have droppings around the house. He adjusted to it pretty quickly, and it is a game changer. Also, the dogs and cat that live in my house know that if any animal is brought inside, you don't bother it, whether it is a weak chicken or any other animal. It is just what it is.
Bedtime for a pair of sweet piggies
Had to bring these guys into the (heated) workshop for the night. Those temps outside are brutal, and these guys would have struggled to hold their body temperature. Pig house is insulated, sheep have lots of wool and are tucked up in a stall for the night, the horses are in the barn with an extra roll of hay, and the chicken house is very tight.
Hank and Cheryl (the geese) do appreciate the fresh water, they just aren't good at showing it. Lol
New family
This happened. Sneaky mama hid a nest. Happy to have her back, but worried about having to house MORE ROOSTERS!
