Did you know that fungia plate corals have tissue deep inside their skeletons? In this case, we have exposed skeleton and the formation of a new plate coral that will eventually bud off the mother. For this particular colony, this has been an ongoing process for several years now, where the mother does not regenerate the exposed skeleton, but rather, continuously produces new baby plates! How cool! You should always leave your dying/dead plates for a while to see if perhaps this phenomenon will occur for you!

As an exclusively aquaculture based farm, lobos like these are a rare sight, so feast your eyes on these two beauties. We will continue to grow them and hopefully use them in spawning trials in the future.

For the second year, we have the pleasure of participating in the Waterloo infant toddler summer camp and engaging the future generation in all things ocean; from our very own captive bred clownfish and shrimp, to urchins, starfish, snails, hermits, and macroalgae. Through exposure from a young age, we can begin to instil appreciation and understanding of just how important oceanic systems are and continue to grow curiosities.

We are so incredibly happy to announce that we have successfully closed the life cycle on Lysmata wurdemanni - the true aiptasia eating peppermint shrimp from the coast of Florida. These are truly spectacular and rarely seen offered in Canada. It has been an absolute pleasure adapting our systems and watching their growth and development through the larval and post-metamorphic stages. We will be releasing our first batches shortly! Stay tuned!
