Pre-surgical medication comfort packs for your cat! 🐈

When your cat is scheduled for anesthesia we know how scary and stressful this experience can be for you and your cat. For this reason we are now recommending you give your cat a combination of oral medications prior to the procedure to help reduce anxiety, fear, and anesthetic side effects.

The comfort packs contain Gabapentin which are safe oral sedatives that also reduce anxiety. It also includes Cerenia which reduces vomiting and nausea for 24 hours.

There is an evening comfort pack for the night before your cat’s surgery as well as a morning comfort pack for the morning of your cat’s surgery. We also send home some treats and pill pockets to help administer the medications to your cat.

These comfort packs are not mandatory but highly recommended before surgery for your cat. If you have any further questions about our comfort packs please contact the clinic at 519-822-9600 or [email protected].

Everyone please welcome our new veterinarian Dr Jackie Haas! Dr Jackie will now be here at Southgate on Mondays and Thursdays, as well as some Saturdays.

Dr Jackie grew up in Montreal, and later moved to Ontario for veterinary school. Jackie’s first years in practice were focused on emergency medicine. In her more recent years, she has shifted to a combination of general practice, community outreach work, and emergency medicine. Jackie enjoys working with pets, and their families, in her local Guelph community.

During her down time, Dr Jackie experiments in the kitchen, shares meals with friends, and travels with her vintage trailer. Her and her partner are otherwise busy spending time with their cats and dogs, trying to keep everyone out of trouble. 🐾

As we approach the holiday season it is very important to place your food and medication orders early. Our suppliers will be closed, so we will be limited to whichever products we have in stock at the clinic.

If you are needing any specialty medications that are compounded by Chiron or Summit, the last day to order to ensure it is ready before Christmas is TODAY, Monday December 16th, before 4:00pm.

If you are ordering any other food or medications, the last day to order to ensure it is ready before Christmas is this Friday December 20th before 1:00pm.
