JV Training Positive Training for Dogs Julia is a spirited woman and graduate of the Animal Behavioural College in Canine Obedience.

**The JV Training team continues to follow all required and recommended practices to protect ourselves and our clients from the spread of COVID-19, including physical distancing, masks, vaccinations and thorough sanitation protocols. Her dedication and passion for the animals combined with her patience for the job has made her a very successful trainer. Julia has spent over 10 years in the trainin

g industry working with many different dogs and has developed a unique approach to canine education. Her positive methods and willingness to work with you and your dog closely have "wowed" many people. Julia is also a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed through the CCPDT and continues to expand on her knowledge of the trade each year through the Canadian Association of Professional Dog Trainers. On top of teaching her own classes and running the business, Julia has spent the past few years working with puppies and adult dogs at Canine Academy, teaching classes for the College Royal Dog Show, and being the oncall trainer and assessment specialist for Needlenose Greyhound Adoption. Raised on a horse farm, she has always had a deep connection with the many animals around her, big and small. She has experience working with aggression cases, anxiety, as well as her year long dedication to educating herself on many different breeds. She has also successfully trained her own dogs, one as a Service Dog for National Service Dogs in Cambridge, and one as a Rally Obedience champion (who is also her loving companion), and an off-the-track "demo dog" Greyhound. Julia will also go that extra mile and come to you in your own home with training solutions and programs, or provide a selection of excellent classes to join with your dog. New puppy owners!! It's the moment you have been waiting for 🐶

Starting on Sunday January 12th from 6:15-7:15pm we are going to be offering Puppy Classes at Pet Valu on 200 Franklin Blvd, Cambridge! This class is ongoing for pups 8-18 weeks of age. Come out each Sunday and give your new addition that solid foundation they deserve for a great start to life! We teach you the skills needed to train your perfect companion, and provide a safe environment for those crucial socialization skills.

$25 to join, or $100 for a set of 4 classes. Those who purchase a package of 4 classes will be guaranteed a spot each week.

Each week we will cover:
-positive conditioning, socialization, and exposure
-supervised play and interaction with other pups of a similar age
-impulse control and managing puppy nipping
-proper play and engagement on owner
-relaxation and place training

We are SO PROUD of Judy, Doug, and their almost 3 year old Chocolate Lab, Lynda for graduating their BLACK Level last week, completing the entire Levels Program! Lynda started with us in Junior Puppy Class back in August of 2022 as a wild and fiercely intelligent little pup, and has been consistently coming to all kinds of classes. She has now grown in to a mature, loving, and still fiercely intelligent dog who has challenged that energy into making her Mom proud. Together Judy and Lynda have completed Levels, Recall Class, Novice Rally Obedience, and passed their Canine Good Neighbour Test back in May! What an amazing team, we absolutely love having you in class!

Look who graduated their BLACK level on Saturday, aka the entire Levels Program! A huge congratulations to the very dedicated Ashley, Mark, and their little mixed breed, June, for all of your hard work. June started with us as a puppy back in May of 2023, and has been attending classes ever since. She has not only completed her Advanced Obedience with us, but also passed her Canine Good Neighbour Test back in May, and her Novice and Intermediate Level Tricks! We absolutely adore having this sweet girl in class, and look at what a talented artist she is! (Painting was done by teaching June to “hold” the paintbrush in her mouth). We love you June!

For those of you who don't know, I am taking a bit of a break from dog training. With everything that has happened with my beautiful building, the economy, and the industry in general it seems like a good time to take a step back and reflect.

My goal had always been the same, to help as many clients and dogs as I can and nurture a fun and positive environment to do so. I have always been a fighter and have never been afraid to take risks, but I will admit I have gotten tired, like many small business owners and hard workers just trying to make ends meet.

I have kept it quiet for the past while because it has, admittedly, been hard to talk about; training and animal behaviour is such a large part of who I am, and without the platform to do so I know I will feel lost. My passion for working with animals (and their people) has not changed, and I will certainly be using this time to advance my own personal training goals, get back on my feet, and explore next steps in the animal industry.

I want you all to know I am still here for all of you, and for those of you who have reached out recently to check in and offer support I want to truly thank you from the bottom of my heart. You mean the world to me!

Another big CONGRATULATIONS to Dwight, Lisa, and their Cattle Dog mix, Lexi, for graduating to your BLACK Level this weekend! We could not be more proud. Lexi is a rescued dog who started training with us back in January and absolutely rocked the Beginner Levels, quickly progressing her way to Advanced. Though she still has her hilarious quirks (don’t they all!) her owners have been working hard learning how to channel her energy into constructive activities and happy play. Congratulations KEIRA for graduating to your BLACK Level this weekend! We are so unbelievably proud of you and all of the hard work you and your Mom have put in. Keira started with us less than a year ago and has since completed Levels, beginner Agility, and our Recall class. She loves to learn and is eager to please! Keira really excels with her loose leash walking, extended down stays, drop on recall, and tricks. She will now be working towards her more advanced obedience and off leash skills. A HUGE congratulations to Liz, Nick, and their extremely happy mini Australian Shepherd, Tasha, for graduating to your BLACK Level this week! After some very impressive skills including focused heeling, long duration sit and down stays, recall past distractions, and more we are proud to say they have made it all the way to the final Level. Tasha started with us in August of last year in our Puppy Program, and her dedicated owners have been attending classes with this sweet little girl ever since. Tasha is incredibly talented in Rally Obedience, and her and Liz have overcome so many challenges together without hesitation or frustration, only determination. Look who graduated to their BLACK Level!! A huge congratulations to Sarah and her mixed breed girl, Daisy, for everything you have accomplished with us! Daisy started in our Senior Puppy Program a year ago and has been wowing us ever since with her dedication and progress. I absolutely love working with these two and hearing about all of the activities they do together. Daisy does particularly well with her recall, engagement and focus on Mom, and her calm yet happy demeanour makes her an excellent adventure partner. We are so proud of you both! 🖤

My name is Julia Volkov and I am a graduate of Animal Behavior College where I earned my certification as an ABC Certified Dog Trainer. My commitment to the program has provided me with a formal education in canine obedience training and understanding behavior and its motives. My certification, continuing education, and many years of experience provide me the skills required to effectively and humanely train your dog while keeping alive the spark that makes your dog so special to you. I am a dog lover first, and a dog trainer second. I know from first-hand experience the difference training makes in the relationship between dog and owner. Without professional training it can sometimes be a frustrating relationship, but with an investment in good management and protocol a wonderful transformation will occur. My mission is to help you and your dog enjoy many happy years together. My education and experiences include... -ABC Dog Training Certificate, CCPDT-Knowledge Assessed
