It is with a sad heart that we had to say good bye to our beloved Sam. Many of you met him as my training partner helping to be a ‘decoy’ or ‘demo’ dog. He was also my walking/hiking partner, gardening helper, car wash supervisor, and neighbourhood welcoming ambassador, meeting all the neighbourhood dogs and especially loving to meet the people! He will truly be missed by all the hearts he touched!

Callum and Chuck, both wonderful rescues, had a great introduction and supervised ‘play session’ yesterday. Supervised off-leash play with healthy, friendly dogs is important for all dogs to learn and keep up their social skills.

Dogs all over England are smiling today. As of Feb 1st 2024 remote electric (shock) collars will be banned in England. Thank you to everyone who campaigned for 10 years to get this done! The dogs thank you!

Does your dog jump on your visitors?

Here is Rosie who you may have seen graduated from our puppy program recently. People ask me, so what is after my puppy program; Puppy 2, Intermediate…?? Nope, we put the foundation behaviours into real life, where you need it!!
Rosie used to run up and jump on the door and then jump on the visitors. Here she is learning that staying on her mat is the better alternative!

Congratulations to Prince on graduating from our puppy program! Kudos to his family for setting him up for success with all of his foundation behaviours that can, and have been, used in real life situations! And Mr. Henry, who has the cutest little ‘sit’. Way to go!

Great tip!!

Dog training tip: we give the dogs in our care enrichment boxes (empty cereal boxes, stuffed with paper, treats, food, etc.) because it allows them to perform that destructive, tearing activity that is natural for them.

People often want to train their pet NOT to do something, when what they often need to do is REDIRECT that behaviour onto an appropriate object.
