🎃🐾 Attention pet owners! As Halloween approaches, it's important to keep our furry friends safe. Here are a few tips to protect them during the festivities:

Candy Caution: Keep all sweets, especially chocolate and candies with xylitol, out of reach. These can be toxic to pets.
Costume Safety: If dressing up your pet, ensure the costume isn’t too tight or has small parts that could be swallowed.
Doorbell Dangers: Frequent visitors can be stressful for pets. Consider keeping them in a quiet room to avoid anxiety and escapes.
Decor Woes: Beware of decorations like candles and fake cobwebs that can pose choking hazards or fire risks.
Spooky Sounds: Loud noises from trick-or-treaters can frighten pets. Create a calm space with their favorite toys and some soothing music.
Let’s keep our pets safe and enjoy a fun Halloween! 🐕🕷️

RVTs: Our Unsung Heroes

Happy RVT Month!

To all our amazing registered veterinary technicians, we see you, we appreciate you, and we’re incredibly grateful for your tireless work.

RVTs play a vital role in the veterinary field, often working behind the scenes to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our clinics. From assisting with surgeries and administering medications to providing compassionate care to our patients, RVTs are the backbone of our teams.

Their skills, knowledge, and dedication are invaluable, and we’re fortunate to have such talented individuals as part of our veterinary community.

So let’s take a moment to recognize and celebrate our RVTs. Thank you for everything you do!

Coming to the end of our amazing RVT stories journey. We hope you have enjoyed learning more about what it means to be an RVT. Here is RVT Kendra's story!

🌟🐾 My love for animals has always been a big part of my life. Growing up in a household with allergies and asthma meant we couldn’t have any furry friends, but that only deepened my passion for them.

🐶❤️I knew I wanted to work in a field dedicated to caring for animals, and becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) felt like the perfect fit! This passion really took shape during my years of volunteering in a small animal practice.

After gaining hands-on experience, I pursued formal education and graduated from the veterinary technician program in 2006. I understand the profound trust that clients place in our team to safeguard the health and happiness of their beloved pets. That’s why I approach each case with unwavering dedication, treating every animal as if they were my own. 🩺✨

It’s incredibly fulfilling to be part of their journey toward health and happiness🐈‍⬛🥰

It's Melissa's turn to be in the spotlight! Here is why she became an RVT.

In the summer of 2002, my Mom told me our veterinary hospital was hiring. I did not think I would get the job, because I did not have post secondary education, yet. My Mom encouraged me to submit a resume anyhow, which I did. The next day my veterinarian, who I admired, called me herself for an interview. I credit the clinic cat of 2002 at Fairvale Animal Hospital for my success as an RVT. She didn't like anyone, at all. She was an elderly cat, rescued from a bad situation. During my interview she curled up on my lap and I was hired on the spot. I never looked back. The wonders of surgery got me hooked. Then the beauty of nutrition and my Veterinary Technician instructor's teaching of "Prevention is the best medicine" The teamwork and shared love of helping animals (and their people) in this career is why I will love it forever.
