Opry & Nashville are another bonded sibling pair. This brother and sister are super sweet and affectionate. Nash will curl up on your lap for a cuddle and a snooze, while Opry will lay beside you. They are 12 weeks old and ready for some play time with their new family. They would make great family cats.

With last fall's big tick outbreak still fresh in our minds, it's a great time to remind everyone about the importance of tick-borne disease testing for both you and your pets! 🐾

Ticks can carry some serious illnesses like Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, and ehrlichiosis. These diseases can cause a range of health problems if left untreated.

Here's why testing is crucial:

🐾Early detection is key: Early diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve outcomes and prevent long-term complications.

🐾Symptoms can be vague: Sometimes, symptoms like fever, fatigue, and muscle aches can be mistaken for other illnesses. Testing can provide a definitive diagnosis.

🐾Protecting your pets: Our furry friends are also susceptible to tick-borne diseases. Regular testing is essential for their well-being.

🐾If your pet has experienced a tick bite or is showing any potential symptoms, please consult your Veterinarian here at Waverley Animal Hospital.

Spaying or neutering your pets is one of the best things you can do for their health and for your community! ❤️

Here's why it's so important:

🐾Prevents unwanted litters: This helps reduce the number of homeless animals in shelters and on the streets.

🐾Health benefits: Spaying females can prevent uterine infections and mammary tumors, while neutering males can prevent testicular cancer and some prostate problems.

🐾Behavioral benefits: Neutered males are less likely to roam, mark their territory (spraying), and exhibit aggressive behaviors.

🐾It's cost-effective: Spaying/neutering is a one-time cost that can save you money on potential health issues and other problems down the line.

Let's be responsible pet owners! If you haven't already, talk to the staff at Waverley Animal Hospital about spaying or neutering your furry friend.

January is National walk your dog month and Waverley Animal Hospital is here to celebrate!

Walking your dog is important for their physical and mental health, but it's important to take precautions when walking your dog in winter. Here are a few tips:

🐾Dress your dog appropriately. If it's cold enough for you to wear a coat, it's probably cold enough for your dog to wear one too. You may also want to consider booties to protect their paws from the cold and salt.

🐾 Keep walks short and sweet. In extreme cold, even furry dogs can get cold quickly. Shorten your walks and take more frequent breaks to warm up.

🐾 Be aware of hazards. Ice, snow, and salt can all be dangerous for dogs. Avoid walking on icy surfaces, and be sure to wipe your dog's paws off after each walk to remove any salt or other de-icing chemicals.

🐾 Watch for signs of hypothermia. If your dog starts shivering, seems weak, or is acting disoriented, get them inside immediately and warm them up.

By taking a few simple precautions, you can help keep your dog safe and comfortable all winter long.
