Congratulations to our first ever Puppy Scent Work class graduates!

This class was a pleasure to teach, we worked on puppy life skills, like waiting our turn, loose leash walking, and focusing on our owners (or searching!) in a class full of other excited puppies. Most of the puppies showed up barky and jumpy and wondering if it was playtime. The beautiful thing about scent work is how calming it is for dogs of all ages.

Mental stimulation is an important need to fulfil for puppies, physical stimulation can only get you so far!

These owners should all be very proud of the great improvements they made with their pups, in patience and calmness and in their handling skills of their new scent work puppy. Great work everybody!

I spend a LOT of time listening to audiobooks, on hikes, on long drives to dog sports competitions, and while I’m cleaning the dirty paw prints off my floors. Luckily I get to support my favourite independent bookstore, good.dog.books in Bridgewater, while listening to books on librofm

This weekend we are at a two day rally competition on Prince Edward Island at For the Love of Dog! For the drive I put on None of This is True by Lisa Jewell - a thriller with a whole cast of voice actors. It’s been a very captivating story so far, which makes me excited for my long drive home.

The last workshop I posted filled in record time, so I'm offering this as a second option for anyone who is available during the afternoon on a weekday.

No prior scent work skills required. My goal for this workshop is to teach handlers specific skills for handling and rewarding in scent work and to teach dogs to get sniffing and build value for finding competition essential oil odour.
