Douglas’ first walk with Ryan was a rainy one! But that didn’t stop him from having a great time. This playful puppy has so much energy and loves finding fun things on the ground to play with. 🤪

Thankfully, he’s a huge fan of Green Paw Pet Treats and will trade his newfound treasures for them.

Ryan is eager to continue working with Douglas, helping him learn and reinforce good leash manners and keeping him safe while he experiences many firsts! ❤️

Meet Aspen! 🩷

This gentle soul is taking things at her own pace. Alec and Aspen have been staying close to home, as it’s taking some time for her to warm up and feel comfortable around new people. She’ll have all the time she needs to feel completely at ease!

Aspen's leash manners are superb, and she loves to show off her tricks for treats. Alec is looking forward to winning her over and getting to know this sweet girl.

Meet the sweetest little wiggle butt, Winnie! 💕

She's an attentive walker with her eyes locked on the treat bag. When she's not searching for treats, she's busy making new friends because she loves meeting people!

With Courtney's guidance, they'll practice staying calm on the leash and ignoring distractions like people and her favourite parks as they pass. Winnie gets very excited and tends to whine when she spots something she wants.

Courtney is looking forward to their walks together. 🥰

A hello from our new dog walking client, Rocky! 🐾

He is a gentle soul who needs a lot of space and patience when meeting new people, especially men.

Alec and Rocky are taking things slowly, and we're excited to watch their bond grow stronger each day. To help Rocky build trust, his mom has been joining the walks, and after a few outings together, Rocky is now comfortable enough to let Alec walk him.

Whatever your dog's needs, we're here to help and accommodate!

How often do you get your dog’s nails trimmed? 💭

The frequency at which dogs need their nails trimmed depends on their activity level, the type of surfaces they walk on, and how quickly their nails grow. Generally, it is recommended to trim their nails every 3-4 weeks. That’s why we offer a monthly Half-Price Nail Day to encourage frequent nail trims for happier and healthier pups.

Our next Half-Price Nail Day is this Saturday, February 15th, from 10am to 3pm!

The sweetest senior man, Shiloh! 😍

Alec and Shiloh take their walks slow and easy, prioritizing Shiloh’s pace and preferences. Every outing with this basset hound turns into a sniffari around the neighbourhood.

Shiloh gets plenty of enrichment and enjoys delicious treats from Smack Pet Food on his walks – his favourite is the Very Berry Chicken!

Two adorable pups showing off their best bleps—meet Gracie & Rupert! 🤪

Jess had a blast on her first walk with them. They were incredibly sweet and welcomed her into their little circle like she was part of the pack. Gracie prefers to stroll leisurely, taking in all the sights and smells, while Rupert is ready to sprint off on an adventure. Jess is on a mission to find a happy medium.

Say hello to sweet little Annie! 🥹

Annie is full of energy and has so much love to give. One of her favourite things is meeting new people!

Alec is working on teaching Annie to walk on a loose leash and remain calm in the busy downtown area. It’s a good thing she is very food-motivated (especially for 🧀), making her an excellent student.

We can’t wait to watch Annie and Alec’s bond grow as they enjoy walks together.

Molly - A star on the grooming table, and she can sing! You'll surely hear her serenade if you stop by while she's in. 🎶

Luna - A bit nervous during grooming, but she loves Alecia and is a regular at the store! As long as treats are involved, Luna is happy. She also loves to give kisses—but not on the mouth. Watch your ears and nose! 😂

Is your pup lifting its paws today? 🥶

Cold temperatures and salt can be very harsh on dogs' paws, but you can protect your dog's paws by using paw balm or boots! 🐾

We've recently brought in the Ruffwear Summit Trex boots—the ultimate everyday shoe for protecting dogs on walks from salt, slush, ice, and abrasions.

Getting the right size is crucial to ensure the boot stays on and is comfortable. We recommend having your pup step on a piece of paper and marking the widest points of its paw. Make sure your pup is bearing its weight on the paper and that its paw is lying flat.

TIP: Gently lift the other paw so that the paw being measured is lying flat.

Gordie - This sweet pup had an unpleasant start to grooming at another salon. He came into our shop for some happy visits before his first groom with us and did amazing! He loves to cuddle and give kisses.

Stanza - Another puppy in for his first groom! He did great and was as calm as he looks. 😎

Arlo - A pro on the table; he came in with fur covering his eyes and was thrilled when he could see again! 😝

Meet Alec! 👋

He is our newest dog walker, taking on clients in Downtown Halifax!

Alec has worked with dogs for over five years in a daycare environment, and when he's not walking dogs at , he's working with them as a technician assistant at an emergency vet clinic. Alec currently does not have a dog of his own, but often fosters and looks after other people's dogs. 🐾

Q - What is your favourite brand we carry and why?

"My favourite brand we carry is - They have a variety of treats, including sweet potato chews, mini trainers, dental chews, and more! This is my go-to whether I am fostering or dog-sitting."

Q - What do you like most about working at East Coast Dog? What sets ECD apart in the industry?

"The team at East Coast Dog is friendly, always ready to offer advice and passionate about helping both customers and their pets. I love being surrounded by people who are not only knowledgeable about pet care but also genuinely excited about what they do!"

"Growing up, I was always surrounded by family dogs, but it was my Jack Russell, who I had for 15 years, that truly sparked my passion for the pet industry, which led me to various careers such as dog daycare, emergency vet clinic, and ECD!"
