FINALLY!!!!! WE HAVE KITTENS!!!! We currently have 4 kitties that are looking to be adopted to their furever homes! We have 3 domesticated long hairs that are black & white, two which are female (Lizzy & Jenny) and one male (Sq**rt). We also have a domesticated short hair female tabby, Maye. They are litter mates and they were born on March 6/24.

Julien considers his time at Pet Valu to be immensely fulfilling and satisfying. An avid animal lover himself, Julien loves greeting and meeting all the four-legged furry visitors, as well as the two-legged ones, that come through the door. Helping customers find the perfect treat or toy, as well as learning about the latest pet care trends, gives Julien the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of pets and their caregivers. Julien grew up lots of pet love in the house, lots of doggos, including a three-legged Chowchow, lots of skittens, as well as a few furry hamsters . . . one was named Bubbles and had an IQ of 140! Julien is also a licensed hairstylist and collects Legos sets as a hobby.

Annika is the newest member of our Pet Value team. Born in Germany, Annika has lived in Halifax for the last 6 years and is proud to have gained a position with Pet Valu as her first employment opportunity. Annika is an extremely quick learner, thrives when the occasion to assist one of our dedicated pet lovers presents itself, and is confident knowing her co-workers have her back if she is unsure of how to help a customer. Annika is an ambitious pet-loving individual and considers herself lucky to have lived with cats, dogs, birds, fish, rabbits, and chickens. She currently has three guinea pigs named Ball, Sheep, and Ivy, as well as the world’s laziest, yet sweetest, snuggle kitty in Kiki, and two free range very vocal budgies. Annika considers our furbabies as little people and loves visits from our customers and their companions.

Meet Corey, one of the devoted pet lovers that work at Pet Valu. While he has only been with this location since October 2023, he has been with the company for a few years! He is always willing to lend a helping hand to our customers with whatever they may need. Corey has been lucky enough to grow up with dogs all his life - Dexter the Cockapoo is his family dog, who is 15 years old now and lives with his parents in Ontario. Most recently Corey and his wife Jennifer have rescued a Pitty/Lab mix named Willie Mae, who is 4 years old. If he isn’t working, you will probably find Corey at the golf course as he has been an avid golfer most of his life.

Come in and introduce yourself to him - whether it be a question about one of our products or golf tips! He is always willing to help.

Emily’s cheerfulness and smile are certainly contagious. Emily has been an incredibly valued member of Ally’s staff since the summer of 2023. Emily has always been surrounded by animals in her house growing up, everything from cats, dogs and fish, to snakes, geckos, bearded dragons and even an Asian water Montier. She currently has 4 cats, Tacoo, Nova, Kirby and Sushi, as well as a Shih Tzu named Tucker. Whether it’s hanging outside or curled up watching tv, Emily is constantly connected with her beloved furbabies.

Trust us, beneath his gruff exterior, Matt is just a big ol’ softy. Matt has been with Ally’s Pet Valu for the last 11 years, fulfilling the role of manager for the last 5. A native of Windsor, NS, Matt grew up in a household filled with pets, such as dogs, cats, and even a wee budgie bird named Kimmy, and considers himself to be most fortunate as he has always had an animal companion in his life. Currently, Matt has two cats, KittyPants (and she insists on spelling it that way – capital K and P, but one word) and Susannah, and his dachshund Darwin. Matt is an avid reader, loves music and film, and spends as much time as he can camping with his partner, Kathleen. With a B.Sc and B.Ed, Matt is always welcoming to customers to come in and pick his brain on anything from pet nutrition to all matters science-related.

Our fearless leader and captain of our ship, Allyson Smith moved to Halifax from Ontario (don’t hold that against her) in March 2011, and this store has been her Number 1 priority since Day 1!

Ally is an animal whisperer and hasn’t met an animal she doesn’t love. From snails, snakes, reptiles, rabbits, birds, to marsupials, dogs, cats, pigs, Ally has cared for and them all! Ally is happiest when she is surrounded by animals.
Ally currently shares her home with her 4 cats, Boy Skitten, Girl Skitten, Nakey, and Baby Nakey, and her miniature pot belly pig Gertie. She often has canine and feline foster babies in her home, and is a proud foster momma to many homeless furbabies.

When not at the store, Ally loves to travel, and makes it a point to befriend all of the animals she comes across in various countries!

Ally sincerely THANKS YOU for supporting her dream of helping animals and the humans who love them!
