Unleashed Pawsabilities Puppy School offers classes to get you off to a great start with your new companion! Our dog training instructor, Tamara McFarland can help you achieve your goals of having a dog who is responsive to you and comes when you call them (the first time!) using both gentle and effective methods. Socialization with people is one of my highest priorities for puppies, especially during their third month. Here Percy "met" our lovely neighbour by exploring her from the tip of her toe up to her head and then checking out her lap.

Your puppy needs tons of sleep to continue to grow physically and mentally. An overtired puppy may mouth and bite excessively or have a harder time with new experiences. When faced with a problematic puppy behaviour, I often start by looking for ways to increase their opportunities for deep sleep.

Ah the third month. It's a biggie! Almost everything in your puppy's life changes as they say goodbye to their Momma and littermates, and venture into the next phase of their life.

During Percy's second month, Percy would have learned about his immediate surroundings and played with his littermates. The socialization period was underway, even while he was with his breeder. It's not just about play, Percy learned how to be behind a barrier and to climb on to this platform. Likely due to this early learning, he is eager to explore by stepping on to things. Note in this photo, the breeder also introduced different types of bowls too.

We had a super Hound High School group wrap up this week. They started as small pups with us, we supported their families through teenagehood in Mutt Middle School and are seeing them blossom into young adults in Hound High School. Here is Casey, the first of our fine students!
