A bouncy, relaxed tail is a positive sign when riding a horse because it often indicates that the horse is comfortable, at ease, and free of tension.
When a horse is relaxed, its muscles are loose, allowing natural movement in the tail. This suggests that the horse is not stressed or in pain and is moving in a balanced, fluid manner.
Conversely, a stiff or clamped tail can be a sign of discomfort, anxiety, or resistance, which may require attention. There are many other factors to be considered as well, but this is one that you can keep your eyes out for!
Quick bandaid solutions are exactly that, a bandaid, it doesn’t solve always solve, it just covers up.
After taking a little break from social media it reminded me how easy it can be to get caught up it quick fixes in a fast paced world.
People advertise the newest and greatest quick solutions to solve all your horses problems; in reality, a lot of those ‘solutions’ just cover or hide the real underlying problem.
Here’s your reminder that it’s ok for it to take time when addressing problems! Remember to address problems from the source and deal with them from the root!
Bodywork can help address pain in the body that often leads to unwanted behaviours that can easily be misinterpreted as bad behaviour! If you would like to learn more about how bodywork can help your horse comment or DM the word ‘behaviour’!
Come along with me for a massage appointment!
During a massage session, horses often exhibit signs of release, such as yawning, licking and chewing, sighing, slowed blinking, just to name a few.
These behaviors indicate that the horse is relaxing and releasing tension in its muscles. Massage therapy can help improve circulation, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being, making it a beneficial practice for equine health.

When grooming your horse, you may notice its muscles twitching or flinching. This reaction can indicate that your horse is experiencing discomfort or pain in those areas.
Muscle twitching during grooming is often a sign of muscle tension, soreness, or even deeper issues like muscle knots or spasms. These issues can arise from various factors such as improper saddle fit, overexertion, or imbalanced movement patterns.
Calling an equine massage therapist can be beneficial for several reasons:
1. Relief from Discomfort: A professional massage therapist can help identify and target the specific areas where your horse is experiencing soreness, providing relief through specialized techniques.
2. Improved Circulation: Massage can enhance blood flow to the affected muscles, promoting healing and reducing inflammation.
3. Enhanced Flexibility: Regular massage can improve your horse’s overall muscle flexibility and range of motion, making it less prone to injuries.
4. Stress Reduction: Massage can also help in reducing stress and anxiety in horses, leading to a calmer and more relaxed demeanor.
5. Preventive Care: Regular sessions with an equine massage therapist can prevent minor issues from escalating into more serious problems, ensuring your horse remains healthy and comfortable.
By addressing muscle twitching and other signs of discomfort early on, you can help your horse maintain optimal health and performance. Visit our website and book an appointment today!

Placing the health, comfort, and overall well-being of our horse is the top priority before any other consideration, particularly sports or competitive pursuits.
We are our horses advocates; how are we using that power?
Prioritizing the horse’s welfare ensures longevity, good physical and mental health, and a strong bond between you and your horse.
By placing the horse first, not only are we upholding ethical standards and fulfilling our job as caretakers, but we are also promoting a sustainable relationship that benefits both the horse and the owner in the long term.
When we prioritize the horse, we are upholding the standards of good horsemanship and fostering a foundation of trust, respect, and partnership that forms the cornerstone of any successful equine endeavour!
Our top priority should be our horse health and comfort; that is number ONE! Everything else comes after that!

I needed this reminder recently too: It is crucial to work at your horse’s pace and not be swayed by the expectations of society or friends.
Each horse is unique and has their own training and physical abilities. Pushing them too quickly can lead to physical and mental strain, resulting in setbacks and potential injuries.
By respecting your horse’s pace, you are allowing them to develop at a rate that is comfortable and sustainable for them. This will ultimately lead to a stronger and more confident partnership between you and your horse.
It is important to prioritize your horse’s well-being and progress over external pressures and timelines! Don’t forget that 🫶🏻

These were my nice ‘going out’ runners, but when the barn calls, you have to answer!
Am I the only one who tells myself that I won’t get my ‘normal people’ shoes dirt when I go to the barn?
I want to know, what’s your go to barn shoe?
I’ll go first….
Honestly, my go to barn shoe is usually whatever shoes I already have on after work or errands. I do have a soft spot for a good pair of cheap rubber boots though! When treating clients horses I aim for a comfortable runner that can easily disinfected between clients to avoid the chance of spread of disease/sickness!

Here’s how to turn those red flags into green👇🏻…
As much as these things do worry me, I want this to be a positive space and give everyone the benefit of the doubt!
If you’ve caught yourself saying or thinking these things your not alone but, here’s some tips to help adjust the thinking!
✅Talk to an equine bodywork professional to help your horse with any possible underlying pain/discomfort.
✅Check your tack! Your horse body and fitness level change. Tack is not a fit once, always fit situation!
✅Don’t push your horse past their limits or put them on unrealistic timelines. If you never worked out, and I asked you to run a 15km by Friday, chances are you’re not going to do great; and you’re definitely going to be sore after!
✅Do not be afraid to seek help from an equine veterinary, to rule out serious lameness or pain.
✅Don’t brush off your horses ‘bad behaviour’, address it! Our horses can’t talk, so if they are in pain or discomfort how are they going to tell us; bucking, head tilts, trips, tosses head, etc.
My goal as an equine massage therapist is to help you and your horse do your best! I can’t wait to help you and your horse, book a session with us and see the difference! Send us a DM or book through link in bio!
Comment “🙌🏻” if you feel the same! Let’s see the equestrian community unite!!

Our horses hold a special place in our lives.
These remarkable creatures are more than just pets; we learn patience, and we forge a bond built on mutual trust and respect.
As we stand beside them, whether in the quiet pasture or the bustling barn, we are enveloped by a sense of happiness.
Our gratitude for these animals goes beyond the tangible benefits they bring into our lives. They are teachers of humility, reminding us that communication extends beyond language, and understanding goes beyond spoken words. In the embrace of their warmth and the soft nuzzle against our palms, we are reminded of the unique privilege it is to share our journey with such extraordinary companions.
