Equine Therapy, also known as Horse Therapy or Hippo therapy, is an approach that utilizes the human-horse relationship as a medium for personal and professional development. It is not a therapy per se, but rather a process aimed at personal fulfillment and self-realization. The horse, through its sensitivity and authenticity, acts as a mirror of the person's emotions and behavior. The horse becomes a mediator that promotes the expression of emotions, non-verbal communication, self-confidence, and self-esteem. This relationship with the horse, based on respect and cooperation, allows for working on relational difficulties and behavior disorders.
Therapeutic Riding (Adaptive Riding) aims at the integration and fulfillment of individuals with forms of disabilities through horse riding. The objective is to adapt horse riding and special equipment to the specific needs of each individual, whether it be a motor, sensory, or mental disorder. The goal is to allow personal practice, promoting autonomy and self-confidence. Therapeutic Riding Ground Exercises, such as obstacle courses or role-playing, allow for awareness of one's functioning mode and developing new skills and critical thinking.
Equine Therapy can be conducted in group sessions, where multiple participants interact on a common project with a horse. Each participant can explore different facets of their personality, take on new roles, and enrich their relational patterns, leadership skills, group communication, and decision-making.
In couple/family therapy, Equine Therapy can help improve open communication, with the horse as a medium to help resolve and identify issues to learn respect from each other, cultivating more fulfilling relationships.

Theough the non-verbal approach with the horse allow establish a relationship of trust and cooperation based on the body language.
