Looking for a name. This is the second raptor at Onpoint. Keeping in tradition with the origins of the Vizsla we’ve added a European gos hawk to the line up! The intention is to hunt him over the the V’s on grouse, woodcock and quail this year. Next year we’ll be targeting Hungarian Partridge on horse back. We welcome name suggestions for this young Gos Hawk. More updates to follow.

Remy does it again! Today he became a Canadian Kennel Club- Field Dog Excellent Champion.

A little background on Remy’s journey.
Remy is a CKC show grand campion (GCH). To prove he is more than just looks and can do it all, we started trialing him in National Shoot to Retrieve to show off his field skills. In 2022, he became an amateur champion in National Shoot to Retrieve (UKC United Kennel Club). In fact he was actually the high point dog in Southern Ontario Region that season. Today he also became a Canadian Kennel Club Field DogChampion FDXCH

Remy is owned by Mark Clem. I want to thank Mark for entrusting me with Remy.
Coming full circle back to Onpoint, his grandmother being Onpoint Hanging Judge, Remy has also sired two of our recent litters. We have a few little Remy pups and we feel confident that they will follow in their Dad’s footsteps. We are grateful that Remy’s genetics are part of Onpoint’s past and future as he embodies the pillars we’ve strived to uphold since 1988, mainly form to enable function and a great disposition that ensures our beautiful bird dogs are also part of the family.

I wrote about how my little helper was back at school on our last post. I always keep a note book where I track where each dog I have is at, what I worked on and next steps with each dog in relation to the program. Everyone always talks about little eyes and ears always watching. Today I found this little notebook while cleaning my truck. I won’t lie, I got a little chocked up.

We are saddened to hear that Loki, has passed. Here is a photo of Gunner (Trained Canine), Loki, the sadly deceased mascot of The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery School, also known as Onpoint’s Man-in-the-Mirror, born in 2009. I have attached a pic of GNR (TC) Loki. RIP.
