Speaking candidly, the shop has had an influx of cancellations recently.. and by influx, SPG means daily. Covid has been rearing it’s ugly head in our community, which is causing a large impact on many small businesses.
It’s not just covid cancelations, it’s also run of the mill “I forgot” “I’m working” “My family member is unable to bring X today”. South Paw Grooming is taking a beating and it’s becoming very difficult. So here are some reminders of why it’s important to keep your appts, and if your unable, to give lots of notice.
1 - Your pets health. Regular grooming keeps your little love looking & smelling good, but it also cares for the skin, ears, nails. When these areas are not tended to, it can cause health risks in the future.
2 - Just because you cancel an appt, does not mean you get a new one “in the next week or two”. I will always do my best… however, continuously asking clients to move around to accommodate is not fair to them, and not fair to the groomer.
3 - Getting a spot filled in less the 24hrs is close to impossible! On occasion it can happen, however usually there’s a hole in my day.
4 - SPG is turning down clients. I’m saying no to people to keep your spots available for you. There’s this paradox where I can’t take on new clients because I can’t guarantee them a spot in the future. So even with cancelations, it’s difficult to give the spot to a new human, when there’s no guarantee I’ll be able to keep them as a client. This isn’t just annoying for the human, it’s bad for the little love. Dogs, like humans, struggle with change. So flip flopping them between groomers can cause unneeded stress and anxiety.
5 - This is directly affecting my income. I understand things come up, life gets hectic, we all struggle. However, please keep in mind The appointment you cancel may not effect your day by all that much, but I’m losing my livelihood. Imagine if you will.. you show up to work. Bright eyed and bushy tailed ready for the day. Your boss comes in to your office and tells you “you won’t be working for the next two hours, you can clean your office, or work on paper work, but you can’t do your actual job. OH, and your not getting paid” now… imagine that happening almost every day.
New Rules
- If you cancel within 24hrs of your appt, no matter the reason, there will be a 25 dollar charge to your next appt.
- Missing 3 appts, without giving 24hr notice, in a year will unfortunately mean I’ll have to take you and your little love off my client list.
I will be starting a new “Last minute cancelation list” for humans who want a spot and can do last minute cancelations.
