Winter Reminder for clients booking dentals during the cold months. A heated barn will be REQUIRED to do on farm dental appointments once the temperatures dip below freezing. 🥶
In clinic dental appointments are available year round.

❄️Roads closed and hunkered down for the storm. We’re stuck in the office catching up on the other side of business. 💻

As of December 1st, 2024 please take note that we will be implementing a LATE cancellation/no show charge. If you cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours notice or fail to show up to your appointment you will be charged a cancellation fee. If you do not attend an on farm appointment, mileage will also be added to the cancellation fee. Of course in the event of weather related cancellations this fee may not apply as we always put the safety of our clients first and in our ever so lovely province realize weather can be unpredictable fairly quickly.

2025 Summer Job Positions 🐎

McBurney Veterinary Services is a busy equine veterinary practice located 45 mins. southwest of Brandon. We are looking for two mature and reliable individuals to add to our team for the upcoming reproduction season.

We will be hiring two temporary positions, ideally a 4-5 day a week rotation including every second weekend. Schedule subject to change based on applicants. Ideally to start around April 1st and end around September 1st, willing to negotiate. Candidate MUST have prior experience with horse handling.

Duties will include but not limited to;
Grooming and blanketing
Turn In/Out
Stall Care, mucking and bedding
Minimum twice daily feeding and feed prep for a large number of horses
Handling horses for health care
Sweeping, washing and general cleaning
General facility/grounds upkeep
Operate a small tractor and manure spreader
Bandage Changes and Treatments

Candidate must display a confidence in horsemanship, be hardworking, able to work unsupervised and be reliable.

2025 Veterinary Student or Veterinary Tech Student Summer Position 🐴

Our clinic is looking for an enthusiastic and hard working individual to join our team with an interest in equine veterinary medicine.
This position will be offered to a veterinary student or a veterinary technician student for the summer to work alongside our veterinarian in the field and in clinic. Our practice will have a strong focus on reproduction but encompasses a large range of equine veterinary care.

A little glimpse of our 2024 Breeding Season. It was the longest season yet! We foaled our first mare on January 24th and our last mare on July 3rd . We foaled a total of 21 mares out at the clinic! Breeding season had its usual long days and short sleepless nights. It all happens with a very small crew of staff and we all put in a crazy amount of hours to make the season a success. Thank you to all our clients for your business and patience as we balance a busy clinic schedule with making breeding dreams come true!

We were super sad to say goodbye to our summer students as they headed back to WCVM in August. We had the privilege of having Kaylee and Madison Fulcher back for a second summer with us, and Helen Born as a first year vet student. We wish you all great things in this upcoming year!
