2024 Veterinary Student or Veterinary Tech Student Summer Position 🐴

Our clinic is looking for an enthusiastic and hard working individual to join our team with an interest in equine veterinary medicine.
This position will be offered to a veterinary student or a veterinary technician student for the summer to work alongside our veterinarian in the field and in clinic. Our practice will have a strong focus on reproduction but encompasses a large range of equine veterinary care.

2024 🐎Summer Job Positions

McBurney Veterinary Services is a busy equine veterinary practice located 45 mins. southwest of Brandon. We are looking for two mature and reliable individuals to add to our team for the upcoming reproduction season.

We will be hiring two temporary positions, ideally a 4 day a week rotation including every second weekend. Schedule subject to change based on applicants. Ideally to start around April 1st and end around September 1st, willing to negotiate. Candidate MUST have prior experience with horse handling.

Duties will include but not limited to;
Grooming and blanketing
Turn In/Out
Stall Care, mucking and bedding
Minimum twice daily feeding and feed prep for a large number of horses
Handling horses for health care
Sweeping, washing and general cleaning
General facility/grounds upkeep
Operate a small tractor and manure spreader

Candidate must display a confidence in horsemanship, be hardworking, able to work unsupervised and be reliable.

Back to School for our summer students!! Madisyn, Kaylee and Sheradyn jumped right into the busy-ness of our spring/summer season! They hit the ground running with an extremely busy repro schedule, full clinic and on farm calls, barn and mare care. They picked more wood ticks and maggots then anyone should have to and they were the best of sports! Long days and late nights were not uncommon! We wish you all the best on your future endeavours 💙

Burrs 😬 If your horses brings them to the clinic you will be charged a $150 fee. This includes mares coming for reproduction ultrasounds, to stay for breeding or for in clinic appointments. If your horse has burrs on them when they arrive here you will see the burr charge on your bill.

We have foaled out 7 embryo transfer recipient mares so far this season. 🥰 This was the most recent foal and she’s a super friendly fearless baby. She will follow you anywhere including the office!
If you are considering embryo transfer for 2024 I’d recommend you get on the list. It’s first come first serve. Our recipient mares get spoken for very fast so you don’t want to be disappointed. I will be confirming bookings and taking deposits for 2024 embryo transfers by November 1st.
