ANNOUNCEMENT❗

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming training clinic, “Mastering the Field: Basic & Advanced Bird Dog Training” by Clyde and Marilyn Vetter.
Clyde and Marilyn Vetter, owners of Sharp Shooters Kennels in Wisconsin, have an unmatched reputation in the bird dog community. With 79 NAVHDA Versatile Champions and 82 Breeders Awards, they are a trusted resource across North America.

This two-day hands-on clinic is an opportunity to advance your knowledge and handler skills in both basic and advanced bird dog training techniques, learning from the very best in the industry.

📅 Dates: May 10-11, 2025
📍 Location: Westrock Kennels
🎯 Focus Areas: basic and advanced bird dog training
💰 Cost: $500 per handler (includes one dog, GST not included)
👥 Attendance: Limited to 25 handlers (one dog per handler)
🌍 Who Can Attend? Open to all Westrock clients, members of all local NAVHDA chapters and the general bird dog community

Thank you so much to the Judges, Test Coordinator and for putting on a great test and going out of your way to ensure we could jump the line to finish the water portion and get back to High River ASAP. I made it to the hospital with 10 minutes to spare where we soon welcomed our daughter Charlotte to the world. This is a memory we won’t forget.

We completed our NAVHDA NA Test with Westrock’s Swamp King “Gator”. We received a Prize 1 112. We’re looking forward to completing advanced training with Gator in preparation for his Utility Test next year.

Congratulations to all of our Stella x Axl Puppy’s that ran in the Wild Rose NAVHDA NA test this past weekend. It was great to see everyone receive a prize! Thank you Ben, Jess, Mo and Rachel for being such great owners to these lovely dogs. I am so proud of you guys for taking on this challenge and knocking it out of the park! Thank you to Chris McLean and all the volunteers who make these tests possible. The judging team was fair and very easy to work with, thank you guys for being so great!

Deanna dropped her dogs off with us for a short board and train with a focus on heeling. At pickup we had a 1:1 training session to work with Deanna and her dogs on the techniques and different tools that she can now use to maintain the heel training that the dogs have learned. We also spent time going over the introduction to steadiness and some great training exercises that Deanna can work through in her backyard.

Sometimes our training sessions are more about the people than the dog. Aria and her parents spent the morning with us learning how to use a Wonderlead, how to train recall properly and got their dog to swim for the first time. It was awesome to guide Aria in the training session and to have her so involved. The excitement on her face when the dog swam for the first time was priceless. We are so blessed to work with amazing families!

Inca is a young LM from Saskatchewan, Canada. She’s staying at the kennel to work on steadiness. This breed is gentle, cooperative and makes excellent versatile hunting companions. It doesn’t hurt that they’re so good looking either!
