We had a super fun session with Remi! She pointed her first bird today, got some exposure to wild birds and was retrieving out of the water. So excited to be a part of these memories for her and her owners.

Arlo the GSP is staying with us for some training while his owners get a much needed vacation. He is from the states and was brought up to Canada with his owners. We were fortunate enough to meet Arlo and his family through a NAVHDA training event and they have done a great job with his training. We did a light refresher on the woah post this morning and will be on birds for the next week.

There’s a bunch of new and returning faces to our kennel this week. We’re working on everything from basic obedience, retrieving, steadiness, tracking and recall.

Buddy is a 4 year old pudelpointer from Alberta, Canada that is staying with us for some tune up training. He is full of energy and loves his work on birds!

Cider the English Pointer was back with us yesterday to put in some work on birds and retrieval work. Her owners have done a great job during the hunting offseason keeping her busy with Shows and Rally events.

Re*****on is a young Griffon from Alberta. He stayed and trained with us in preparation for his NAVHDA Natural Ability test this year. His owners got to enjoy Disneyland while we played with birds in the snow.

Koda is staying with us for some advanced bird dog training. He is a an adult pudelpointer that loves jumping in the pond and getting wet before his formal bird work. He suits the “puddle pointer” nickname very well.

We have been working with Suzanne and her Great Dane Ramsey for the past few weeks. After being turned away from other trainers, Suzanne and Ramsey came to us desperate for help. Owning a dog with such size and strength is a commitment and responsibility that shouldn’t be taken lightly. The most important aspect of training and owning any dog is to be a great leader. The way we communicate with our dogs needs to be clear, concise and consistent. Suzanne is learning to become the leader Ramsey needs her to be and he is reaping the rewards of her hard work. Yesterday was such a pleasure to walk with these two through areas with tons of people, dogs, bicycles and cars. The journey is far from over but what a great change to see in Ramseys behaviour and Suzanne’s leadership.
